HOT BREAD By Joe D. Sizemore As preached at "Because of the Times" Alexandria, Louisiana, 1995. Text: Leviticus 24:5-9 We are delighted to be here, Sister Sizemore and myself. We are excited about these services, enriching us by the grace of the living God. All of those who are here, we give honor to you tonight: Members of the General Board, District Board, Brother Tenney, and the Manguns. Everybody has made as to feel so very welcome, and all the preaching that has gone forth has just absolutely overwhelmed me. I don't know just how much more I will be able to receive, but maybe there is room, as the brother said. I feel almost like the young man felt as I was having a wedding ceremony. I came to the part that said, "Will you now take this woman to be thy lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, kw poorer . . ." And he reached up, wiped his brow, and fainted. He fainted! We picked him up, pulled him across the front of the pew, laid him out, and put his head in her lap. She kept patting him on the head saying, "He'll be alright." So, I feel like someone is patting my head this morning and saying, "He’ll be alright." There are wonderful people in this congregation. I'm feeling the presence of the Holy Ghost. Let me take you now into the Scriptures, and thank all of you for allowing us to be a of this great meeting today and enjoying the presence of the Lord like we are. I'm going to read in our hearing, if I may, from the twenty-fourth chapter of Leviticus and the fifth verse are these words: And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof two tenth deals shall be in one cake. And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD. And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD. Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute. [Leviticus 24:5-9] It is incredible, really incredible. Some time ago, I came across an old book that's called, Jewish Religious Laws and Ethics. I found some interesting things in there, and I am going to relate them to you in a moment. Feeling God's presence, knowing that He is real. These things, by the way, this is bread that hands made; human hands have made. But there was other bread in the Scriptures called "manna." And it was something that God made. God made this manna and fed all these Israelites all these years. All of these many years, each person had an omer which is six pints. Six pints, per person, per day. I'm talking about the manna in the wilderness. That means a pint weighs a pound, so they had six pounds, per person, per day, in the wilderness journey. If there was probably two million people that He was feeding, that means they had twelve million pounds of manna that fell every morning. Every morning! And it was fresh, hallelujah; it was fresh! It was being baked in heavenly ovens. While they were in their tents sleeping, God was ordering His bakery to go to work. Hallelujah! They dropped it down fresh every morning. But now He is saying, "I want you to make some bread. I'm gonna let you give some loaves back to Me. It is supposed to be set on this table as a perpetual covenant. Every time you see it, every time your priests go into this holy place and eat of this bread, I want you to know that it is made for Me, but it's for your sustenance. Your whole life is filled with its goodness.” And in this old book that I ran across, it had this in the context: in the temple complex, there were ten miracles. I just want to lay a good foundation here for you because I want to tell you how I'm like Sister Tenney. I feel the presence of the Lord. Somehow, I feel an angel right around here. Thank God. You might listen for them to come, for as I have said many times, the angels of the Lord encampeth around about those that serve Him. You might listen before you go to bed tonight, and you might just hear them bringing in their camping equipment. They not only come in, but they bring their camping equipment. They are going to set up camp around you all through the hours of the night. They just kind of flap those ivory wings, and when you make a wrong move, they flap them faster. Hallelujah, but there's something incredible. This is just a historical account from this old Jewish laws and traditions. It does, in fact, coordinate with the Word of God, and that is why I want to use it. It says, in this: "Around the temple complex no woman . . . [transfer this if you can, over to a spiritual application] . . . no woman ever had a miscarriage because of the smell of sacred flesh around the sacrifices." I thought that was incredible. "The sacred flesh never went bad, during the whole sacrificial process. There was no spoiling of the meat. Never was a fly seen in the slaughterhouse." (This is what they are saying in these historical records.) There never was a fly. Everybody has a battle with flies! But there never was a fly seen in the slaughterhouse. That is an incredible, providential God. And did you know something? "Never did the high priest suffer uncleanliness on the Day of Atonement, and never did the rains extinguish the fire of the wood pile." The wood that was burning ascended and never did the rains make it go out! Or extinguish the fire on the wood pile. "And no wind ever prevailed over the pillar of smoke. When the wind blew, the smoke went right straight up.” The smoke did not yield to the wind. Hallelujah! I'm saying that there is something going up in this meeting that's not going to yield, that's not going to yield to the wind. Hallelujah! Oh yes, my friends, there are some apostolic preachers and preachers' wives that are not going to yield to the wind that might blow. The Spirit of the Lord God is going to enrich us by His grace and by His power. Glory! Thank You, Jesus. Let's all say, "Thank You, Jesus." "No wind prevailed over the pillar of smoke. And never was a defect found in the omer, or in the two loaves, or in the shew bread. Then the people stood, pressed together, yet they bowed down, and they had room enough to gather around the temple. Never did a serpent or a scorpion harm anyone in Jerusalem." He already said it wasn't going to happen: "Scorpions are not going to bother you apostles." No historical account where there was any record where there was a serpent or a scorpion biting or hurting any of those disciples in that wonderful day. Praise the Lord! Never did a serpent or scorpion harm anyone in Jerusalem. And no man ever said to his fellow, "It's too congested in Jerusalem, for this place, for me that I should lodge here." They always had room. And I want to tell you something that I'm gonna follow through here with this. I'm just feeling so good right now. I can't hardly stand still. Praise the Lord! I know I've got to follow these little things right here until I get over into the mainstream. Praise the Lord. This is the other point I want to make to you right now, for this is the main point. "The shew bread was as fresh on the day it was removed from the table as on the day it was first put there." Think about this because with every replacement, there had to be hot bread on that table. There wasn't any cold crust there. It was warm; it was hot; and it was put in there, a table full on the sixth day. Now, let me show you a point here about that sixth day, for, my friends, there is something rich in this. For you see, (Praise the Lord), when the birth of Jesus was announced, the army of His enemies assembled to conspire as to how that might destroy Him, that is Jesus. They set out on their crusade against the miracle of all time, trying to defeat the purpose of God in the earth. Men with top-heavy brains pretending to explore the highest of heaven in philosophy's drifting balloon; professors poisoned by the fatal-strong drink of philosophy and metaphysics, armed themselves and shouted across time, "Man wills it!" and humanism was born. Certain of them drew on their boundless imaginations that evolved what they considered proof positive of a fantastic theory that the story of the birth of Christ and the gospel is no more than a legend from which we can reconstruct the natural life of Jesus as a man and not as a divine man. "He did no miracles," they say, "in our world, except the hypnotic cure of some obsessed devotees." Others demonstrated that Jesus was a myth, developed during the time of Tiberius and Augusta Caesar and the Herods. Others conclude that Jesus was never born anywhere, at anytime, or at any place or any spot on the earth. But I have news for that philosophy. I have news for all of this humanistic generation. Jesus was born. He did travel. He went from place to place, healing the sick, cleansing the leper, raising the dead, bringing victory to all of those who would trust Him. I want to tell you right now He is my king; He is my helper; He is my friend; He is my way-maker; He is my problem-solver; He is my door-opener. He enriches me by his love; He touches me by His grace. Amen! I want to tell you, Brother Tenney, I feel the Holy Ghost in this room this morning because we are dealing with hot bread. Hot bread! Hot bread! You say, "Well, where is that in the Scriptures?" Well let me show you just a minute; it's in I Samuel 21:6: So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. I want to tell you now that we're not coming to a generation that's going to get along with this old mealy-mouth kind of services, with three songs and a prayer, but we're going to have to have some serious, penetrating, Holy Ghost, powerful, shekinah glory to bring this to something that will challenge the world, that will destroy sickness! I'm gonna shout a little bit. I used to say, "Pardon me while I shout," but I'm not gonna say, "Pardon me." I'm gonna shout a little bit anyhow. Because the Lord is high on His throne, and He is everlasting! Shout, "Hallelujah!" Shout, "Hallelujah!" Yes! I'm not going to leave Alexandria in an ice wagon. I'm going home in a fire truck! Come on, somebody, help me. It's early morning, but the Spirit of the Lord is going to cross this place! Yes, yes! Somebody say, "Yes, yes!" Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, sweetest name I know! I am apostolic, baptized in Jesus' name, filled with the Holy Ghost, living a life of holiness, don't believe anything else, not looking in other directions, just staying with the church that has some hot bread in it! Some hot bread! I'm tired of the cold; the cold. It's hot; it's hot! Somebody would like to water it down. Somebody would like to put it out. Somebody would like to have a dry crust. But as for me and my house, we're going to serve the Lord. We're gonna stay with it. Oh, I wish you could understand what I'm talking about this morning. We don't need to water it down. We don't need to change it. We need to use the same formula. We need to preach the same gospel. We need to know the same name. Yes! Somebody say, "Yes, Lord God Almighty, hot bread!" I feel like running down that aisle and around this church. I feel like turning on the fire alarm at the fire department. We've ridden around in our ice wagons long enough. This little thing of three songs and a prayer and that’s about it is about over, folks! The Bible talks about the fervent prayer (hot prayer), get into-it prayer. Do you want a cold sermon this morning? We need some hot sermons. You young preachers can't run around in the boat and run around on the golf course and come in and listen to a tape about thirty minutes before church and preach like you ought to preach. Somebody better help me right now because I want to tell you the truth. The evangelists need to be hot on the field. The power of God needs to be demonstrated on the field. We need some apostolic churches to come alive with the "tongues of fire, set upon each of them, and they were baptized with the Holy Ghost." You know, I picked up this information not long ago. I didn't write this, but it says what I want to say. I wrote it down; it was quoted from Bishop S. M. Lockeridge. It just fits in here. It talks about He's my king. Everything I need, I find in Him. He's the Bread of life. He is not relegated to the second deity in the godhead. Yes! Sister Tenney was talking about the angels. Let me tell you something: In Cincinnati, right across the river in Covington and Newport, Kentucky, there is some dear lady up there that is supposed to be seeing a vision of Mary. And she talks about it, they get it in the media, and they've got thousands of people going over there to a pasture, a field, looking up to see if they can see Mary. And sometimes we don't have enough people on Wednesday night to see nothing! Wouldn't it be good if the people who have the truth were looking for something, believing in something, seeing a few angels, if you please, understanding that this is a powerful, God-called, Holy Ghost church, filled with the Spirit. Hot Bread! Let me quote this. I'm conscious of your time. Hallelujah! Somebody help me. Somebody shout, "Hallelujah," right now. "He's my king. He's the King of the Jews. He's the King of Israel. He's the King of righteousness. He's the King of the ages. He's the King of heaven. He's the King of glory. He is King of kings. He is Lord of lords. He is enduringly strong. He is entirely sincere. He is eternally steadfast. He is altogether graceful. He is impressibly powerful. He is impartially merciful. He is God's son. He is the sinner's Savior. He is the centerpiece of civilization. He stands alone in Himself. He is unique. He is unparalleled. He is unprecedented. He is supreme. He is preeminent. He is the loftiest idea in literature. He is the highest personality in philosophy. He is the supreme problem of high criticism. [Yes, He is!] He is my King. He is the fundamental doctrine of true theology. He is the necessity of spiritual religion. He is the miracle of the ages. He is the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him. He is the only One who is able to supply all your needs, simultaneously. [Yes, yes!] He supplies strength for the weak. He is available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes, and He saves. He heals the sick. He cleanses the leper. [Yes!] He forgives sins. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He rewards the diligent. And he beautifies the meek . . ." I'm talking about a name that is higher than any name. I'm talking about a name that you must be baptized in. Somebody help me preach . . . You can be seated if you want to. I'm on a hot seat right now. Can't sit down! "He's the wellspring of wisdom. He is the doorway of deliverance. He is the pathway to peace. He is the walkway to righteousness. He is the highway of holiness. He is the gateway of glory. He is the Master of the mighty. He is the Captain of the conquerors. He is the Head of the heroes. He is the Leader of the legislators. He is the Overseer of the overcomers. He is the Governor of governors. He is the Prince of peace. He is the King of kings. And he is the Lord of lords. That's my King. He is on the throne." Lord God, it's hot! The Word is hot. It is still hot! Still real, why? Because we have an Author. You know, all the while you deal with bread, there's always the crumbs. Those Gentiles were aware of it because they swept up those crumbs to keep it clean on the inside. That is the Levitical priests didn't eat the crumbs from off of this table. They swept them up and threw them out into the courts of the Gentiles. And that's why that little lady had a concept. She had a concept. We're not gonna give this to the Gentiles. But she said, "I know the dogs, the little dogs, eat from the crumbs that fall from the Master's table." Let me tell you something, friend, we Gentiles didn't have any right to this. We were strangers and foreigners to the commonwealth of Israel, but one day, one day, God said, "I'm going to visit the Gentiles to take out of them a people for My name." Glory! Shout, "Glory!" Shout, "Glory!" I've never been in anything like this in my life! I'm about to faint! Just drag me across here and lay me on the front seat here, Brother Anthony, hallelujah, and finish the job. Because this is a name that's greater than any name; a power that's greater than any power. There ought to be some hot apostolic services. There ought to be some joy in our lives. There ought to be some strength for our weariness. Yes, yes! I'm so glad, I'm so glad I know Him. "His promises are sure. His light is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His Word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteousness. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. He is my King. He is indescribable. He is invincible. He is irresistible. The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone man explain Him. [Hallelujah!] You can't get Him out of your mind. And you can't get Him off of your hands. [I said, 'You can't get Him out of your mind, and you can't get Him off of your hands.'] He reigns supreme. He is our God. [Yes!] And in Him dwells the fullness of the godhead bodily." I kind of wish somebody would do something right now 'cause this meeting is all over me. You preachers, all you evangelists, I believe you are going to leave here with tongues of fire on your head. I believe you are going to leave here with new inspiration. I believe you are going to leave here with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Go ahead and get it. It belongs to you. Do you want some hot bread? This is what we are going to do with it. This is what we are going to do with it. You are going to take it home with you. You are going to take it to church with you. Hallelujah! 1 cr.; are going to take it to Bible study with you. You are going to watch God come down and eat it. Hallelujah! Break the bread. Break the bread. It's good. Yes, take it home with you. Preachers need it! Sunday school teachers need it! Board members need it! Secretary needs it. Treasurer needs it. Musicians need it. Choir needs it. Everybody needs some hot bread. We are weary and tired of cold crumbs. Jesus! Glory, glory? Lord God! "The Pharisees could not stand Him, but they found out that they could not stop Him. Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him. And the witnesses couldn't get the testimonies to agree with Him. Herod couldn't kill Him and death couldn't handle Him. The grave could not hold Him. He has always been, and He always will be. He has no predecessor, and He will have no successor. There was nobody before Him, and there will be nobody after Him. You cannot impeach Him, and He is not going to resign." Somebody bring me two little chairs. Lord God, I feel the Holy Ghost! You know something, (you may be seated) thirteenth chapter in the Book of Acts, there was a prayer meeting in Antioch. The Holy Ghost was in that prayer meeting. Certain prophets and teachers were there along with Barnabas and Saul, and the Holy Ghost said . . . said it in a prayer meeting . . . "the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them . ." and there they went. Now they sailed over to Paphos. Now I can't make a sailboat, but I can make a rowboat. Thank you, Jesus. And here they went coming from that prayer meeting in Antioch. Hallelujah! They were taking hot bread across there! They had come out of a fire prayer meeting. They had come out of a Shekinah prayer meeting. They came out of glory. Everybody saying, "Don't rock the boat." Hey, that's an old term, and you may as well forget it. You better rock it. You better get it going. You better move it. I can hear Grandpa praying, "Oh, God bless Barnabas and Saul today." I can here Momma praying, "Oh, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, oh be with them, Lord." And a little child praying, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, touch them, Lord." Then there was Saul and Barnabas feeling the winds of those prayers, pushing the back of the boat. You know something, you can always do better, pastor, if the saints are praying for you, if they have you on their mind, if they are in a hot prayer meeting. Lord God! How are you doing, Barnabas? I want to tell you, we are taking His name from Alexandria. We are taking the Holy Ghost from Alexandria. We are taking new inspiration from Alexandria, and we're going back with some hot bread! We are going back with all this preaching on our minds. We're going to do something that has never been done before. Whether you belong to whatever, we have the name and Jesus is real. Oh, I forgot the bread. Watch out now. Put it here in the boat. Glory! Let me tell you something. Did you know that man was created in the sixth day? He is a sixth day product. There will be no higher creation after him. There will be no Lord except Jesus. And this is almost the conclusion of the sixth day creation. A few years, couple years, and that will be the turning over or the conclusion of the sixth day. On the sixth day, the sixth day is when those priests had to go in there and fill up that table. They had twelve loaves in there. They didn't have ten loaves. You can't have revival with ten loaves. You have to have twelve loaves. The whole total unity factor is becoming more involved than ever before in our history. I say that respectfully. You got to have twelve loaves on there. At the end of the sixth day, when that sun went down, the table was loaded with twelve loaves that was set up as a memorial before the Almighty. The priests weren't necessarily sustained on this bread, but he had to eat this bread. Hallelujah! When he was in there lighting the candlesticks and when he was in there throwing all the incense on the altar, they ate it. You are going to have to eat it. Twelve loaves, don't try to go home with ten loaves. That's enough on that cause that just goes on and on. Let's get back in the boat. We're ready to go? How many are ready to go with this gospel? How many are ready to see signs and miracles? Praise God! Now's the time to see it! I'd like to see some folks get up out of a wheelchair. I don't believe vou have to blow on them to get it done. Hallelujah! I believe you use the name with a hot gospel, with a powerful message with anointed preaching. It will get the job done. Wave your hand and shout, "Hallelujah!" Verbally praise His name from this side all around this room. You may be seated. Right now, I feel like I could walk on water, but I can't do it yet, though. Now wait, they bring their boat up to the shore. Swish, swish, swish. And they run right into Elymas, the sorcerer. Pretty good, ain't it? You'd think that they could escape him . . . ran right into the devil. With a powerful boat, Holy Ghost anointing, prayer meeting in Antioch . . . ran first thing right into the devil. Now, Sergius Paulus was standing there, and he wanted to hear the Word of God, but the devil wouldn't let him. They said, "Wait a minute, I feel that prayer meeting back here." You know something, they didn't write home and say, "We've ran into opposition, and we will be home on the next boat." Right? Ran right into the devil. Saul and Barnabas (Lord God), now what are we gonna do? Here is Sergius Paulus, and he wants to hear the Word of God. And he (Elymas) is standing there saying, "No. No, you don't want to hear that." Do you know what Paul did? He set his eyes on the sorcerer — that means he fixed them. He fixed them — that means he went into a stare. We need an eye-fixer revival! Here I am in the forty-third year of preaching, and I still feel the hot bread. I still feel the anointing. I still feel the apostolic power. I feel like God wants to do something with us and through us and for us like He's never done before. And he fixed his eye on him and said . . . Now he didn't sav, "I'll go with vou to the rotary club and we'll talk it over." He didn't! Now that's alright, really. And he fixed his eyes on the sorcerer and said, "Oh, thou child of the devil." Spoke to him like he ought to have spoke to him. You are going to have to not be polite arwmore with the devil. Don't beat around the bush. Call it like it Sin is what's destroying us. The devil is what's destroying us. But I believe he's been moved off of this territorv. Brother Tenney, just like you said, "This is not his territory.- We've got some eaters of hot bread in here. We've got some new and fresh anointing in here. We've got some churches that going to grow in here. We've got an anointed pastor that's going to lead us in here. Paul is going to use the only miracle that he knows how to use because it was used on him. And he said, "Thou shalt be blind for a season." You are not going to be able to see (talking about Sergius Paulus). That's what finally happens to the enemy if you take charge. I said, "If you take charge." You can't deal with it with just a little empty thing. You are going to have to have some hot Holy Ghost anointing by the fire, by the bread, by the glory. Sergius Paulus wanted to hear the Word of the Lord. He wanted to. Now he didn't say, "Here's a tract: Watchtower." Now, you'll read on there from the tract society, what you might do to be saved. Go to the Gospel of John. It's not in the Gospel of John. Oh dear, Lord God. He started to preach. He said, "Here's the Word. There is One God in this book, brother. There is one name in this book, brother. One church, one faith. There's one Lord and one baptism." Yes, I believe it with all of my heart. This is the name, the power, the glory, the anointing of the church of Jesus Christ. You can hand out tracts. You can leave them at bus stations. You can leave them in airports. You can leave one wherever you want to leave one. But, friend, you are going to have to meet in person some day. You're going to have to get them in a Holy Ghost church. You're going to have to quote Acts 2:38. It's still real. It will ever be real. And he led them over there and got him out of the way. Praise God. And we don't know, we don't really hear anymore out of him (Elymas). He just faded off into the wilderness. Did you ever here of Elymas anymore? But you hear Barnabas and Paul preaching to Sergius Paulus. I can see them shouting in the prayer room at Antioch. We just received news a while ago that they went over there and ran into the devil. And the devil faded off into the wilderness, and they are all aghast. They don't know what to do. Let's shout about it in the prayer meeting. Glory. I think there ought to be some rejoicing, some happiness, some shouting, some praising. And I'm finished. I'm going to take the boat home. But I'm going home in a fire truck. I'm not going in an ice wagon, Bishop. I'm telling you, I'm so glad to be here. I'm about to faint right now! Go ahead, lift your hands, and praise Him.
