A Revelation
By Glenn A. Cook

All things are delivered to me of my Father, and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal it.”-. Luke 10:22

The last word in the above quotation is “him” in the Authorized Version, but it is in italics, indicating it was supplied by the translator. Dr. Weymouth translates the passage as we have it, supplying the word “it.”

One brother has said that about all the revelation to be found in all the revelation to be found in “Meat in Due Season” comes from the back of the editors’ heads. We are afraid if this were a fact the Pentecostal movement would not be stirred from stem to gudgeon, as we are fully aware we have a very limited amount of gray matter, and what we have is of a poor quality and sparingly developed. But we do love the Lord and his truth, and have promised to fearlessly put forth whatever He reveals to us if we lose all our friends and possessions.

From the above Scripture it would appear that there were some things to be revealed. In other words, there must be divine revelation in order to know either the Son of the Father, and the only person who knows who the Father is, is the Son. Surely Phillip came to the right person when he asked Jesus to “show us the Father,” and surely Jesus gave Phillip a revelation when He told him that “he who hath seen me hath sent he Father.” Why, Phillip, “have you been so long with me and have not known me.”

We praise God with all our ransomed powers that the son hath revealed to us the mystery of the Father and the Son. The Gospel writers knew it and also the writers of the epistles and the Acts; also our beloved John the Revelator. This revelation lifts a veil from their writings.

We can hear the critic who reads this article say: “Why do you not tell us so we can rejoice with you?” Read the verse at the beginning of this article again, “and he to whom the Son will reveal it.” If you want Him to reveal anything to you, you must obey Him and keep His commandments. Not the commandments of Moses, but His commandments; they are not grievous. Be baptized in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. But this puts you in another quandary. How can you be baptized in the NAME of some one you do not know? When Jesus gave this command (Matt. 28:19) he also gave another and they were not to carry out the first until they obeyed the latter, and that was to “tarry in Jerusalem until they received more power from on high.” This simplifies the whole matter. Matthew 28:19 was a veiled command and when Peter received the Holy Ghost the veil was lifted and the identity of the Father and the Son was revealed; consequently he told them what to do: “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”- Acts 2:38.

Many have gone forth to disciple and, baptize all nations without obeying the last command and for that reason have used the veiled formula instead of the one used by Peter and all the rest of the Apostles. The consequence is that darkness is over the church or people who have been baptized into a mystery they did not understand. In their dilemma they have adopted scores of names to designate their standing, and many of them will acknowledge they are not satisfied with their name. The only was out is to do like Phillip and go to Jesus. If you go to Jesus now you will have to apply to the Holy Ghost, and if you let the Holy Ghost come he will guide you unto all truth.

Nearly all who are in darkness among God’s people at present went through the water, and we would advise them to again hunt the water to get out. But this time find some one to guide you through who has obeyed both commands of Jesus, and to whom the Son hath revealed the Father. Well, praise God for the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
