TEACHERS’S COVENANT

Article 1

 

1. As a concerned teacher, I will

(a) prepare my lesson well.
(b) earnestly pray for each class session.

 

2. As a responsible teacher, I will

(a) be interested in the student’s spiritual growth.
(b) seek to bring about salvation to the lost.

 

3. As a teacher of integrity, I will

(a) teach in accordance with Bible doctrines.
(b) be an example in conversation, in spirit, in faith, and in wearing Godly attire.

 

4. As a lover of my class, I will

(a) encourage pupils to be faithful.
(b) teach students to prepare their lessons and give of their finance.

 

5. As an example to my class, I will

(a) attend our church services regularly.
(b) cooperate with the Godly leaders of our church.

 

6. As a dutiful teacher, I will

(a) strive to be loyal to my God.
(b) strive to be true to myself.
(c) strive to be dedicated to my class.

 

7. By the grace and help of the Lord, I will

(a) endeavor to fulfill the above goals, seeking to save the souls of my students and myself.

TEACHER COMMITMENT

 

I. Qualifications

A. Must be filled with the Holy Ghost.

B. Must meet the qualifications for church membership. (Membership is not required)

C. Must be faithful to church in all way:

1. Attend all services
2. Tithing
3. Outreach, etc.

 

D. Must have a real love for children.

 

II. Responsibilities

A. Responsible for studying and praying over each lesson assigned to you by the superintendent.

B. Responsible for helping in the cleaning and decorating of the classroom as assigned by the superintendent.

C. Responsible for participating in visitation and follow-up as assigned by the superintendent.

D. Responsible for participating in visitation and follow-up as assigned by the superintendent.

1. This will include sending cards to absentees and new visitors and phone calls to students.

 

E. Responsible for contacting the superintendent when you plan to be absent and are unable to teach.

F. If there’s any structural change in your classroom you must get in touch with the superintendent and each child must have a parental permission slip for insurance purposes.

G. All class purchases for reimbursement must have prior approval of the superintendent and he will be in contact with the pastor.

H. Any class purchases for reimbursement must have prior approval of the superintendent and he will be in contact with the pastor.

I. Responsible for encouragement of student participation in Sunday School promotions.

J. Responsible to attend monthly teachers’ meetings.

K. Always wear a SMILE and portray the LOVE OF CHRIST.

L. This is for the term of one Sunday School year.

DUTIES OF SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF

Article 3

 

LEAD TEACHER

1. Spiritual leader of class, having full authority.

2. Must have good working relationship with all. (examples; fellow workers, Pastor, Sunday School Board,
Superintendent, ushers, bus captains)

3. Must have good report from church body (respect, love)

4. Must set up and direct all class activities. (Examples: class time schedule, programs, home visitation, etc.)

5. Schedule teachers planning sessions once a month. The reason for this is to discuss your students, set new goals and review previous goals (successful or not), and to share ideas.

6. Order class materials.

7. Make sure bulletin boards are changed every quarter, along with other room decorations.

8. Set up and clean class every week before Sunday School.

9. Must keep order in classroom and teach proper respect for God’s house and others.

10. Must have excellent attendance records.

 

TEACHER

1. Assist lead teacher in all class aims and programs.

2. Must take full charge of class if lead teacher is absent.

3. Must be able to work peaceably with others.

 

TEACHERS AID

1. Helper in class having no authority.

2. Assist teachers in whatever areas are deemed necessary.

1. Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ – in water by immersion.

“Qualifications To Be A Sunday School Teacher”

Must Be Faithful

Article 5

 

1. To the church.

2. In cleaning your class room.

3. I pay tithes and offerings.

4. To make contacts.

5. In dressing holy.

6. In prayer, before, during and after service.

7. To all staff meetings.

8. In taking instructions from the leaders in the church.

9. Not to criticize.

10. Not to be rebellious or stubborn.

11. Not to have ought in your heart against anyone.

12. To study.

13. To witness.

14. To be an example to all people at all times.

15. To contact each student of your class a minimum of once a week, by phone, mail, or a personal visit to their home.

16. Be in your class by 9:30 on Sunday and stay there.

17. Give a minimum of $1.00 offering as an example to your class.

18. To have your class room ready by 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.

19. To pray a MINIMUM of two (2) hours each week for your class.

20. To study a MINIMUM of two (2) hours each week for your class.

This is not required, BUT a 100% effective teacher will visit their class room a minimum of twice e week between Sundays and pray at least 15 minutes during each visit:

In charity: Loving the staff you work with. Loving others of the body of Christ. Being loyal to the Pastor, Calvary Christian school and other departments of the church. Being submissive to other leaders over you.

In Spirit: Being a person of prayer. Being faithful to prayer your class members each week.

In Faith:

a. Being an example to the students in your walk of faith.

b. Also being faithful in attendance to all church services and  arriving for Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. to participate in the  teachers prayer service.

c. Being faithful in paying of tithes.

d. In case of absence to notify the head teacher and have my materials  ready for my replacement.

e. In case of a need to resign giving at least a months notice.

 

In Purity: I Will adhere to the church’s policy concerning separation from the world, (drinking, dancing, bowling, smoking, movies, professional ball games, mixed swimming and modest dress.)

a. Modest dress for women includes dresses should come below the knee,  dresses and skirts should have no slits in the back. Neck lines  should not be below the collar bone. Top buttons on blouses should
be up near the collar bone. Sleeves should be modest and to the elbows for teaching. Slacks and culottes, gouchows and the like should not be worn. Jewelry including pins should not be worn. A engagement and wedding ring may be worn. Makeup is not to be worn (including clear finger nail polish. Women’s hair is not to be cut or trimmed.) I Timothy 2:9,10

b. Men should have properly trimmed hair, clean shaved face and wear modest apparel.

c. In view of I John 2:15-15 (love not the world…), I will not have a television in my home. If there is a television in my home I will not make a practice of watching television programs. I also will not watch videos that are old movies once shown in theaters and on television. The 10 commandments are a good guide. Our goal is to keepour life consistent with our testimony.

d. Singles should not date new converts for six months.

Giving Attendance to reading, exhortation and doctrine: I will study the scripture background of each lesson coming well prepared to do my assigned duty.

I will also have personal devotions end a time of personal Bible study.

I will endeavor to follow this teacher’s covenant. I believe this opportunity to teach is from the Lord and I want to be involved in the Sunday School ministry of Calvary Tabernacle church.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF MEMBER

Article 8

 

As a Sunday School Staff Member, I appreciate the privilege I have in this high calling. Depending upon God, I humbly and earnestly pledge myself to the following principals, which the Sunday School Department has adopted; believing it to be in accordance with His plan.

1. My first desire shall be to bring about the salvation of each person, who does not know the Lord Jesus Christ, and to encourage the spiritual growth of those who do.

2. I will be willing to serve in any area that is needed in the Sunday School Department.

3. I will be committed to Christ, the church, and the new responsibility.

4. I will fulfill all my duties and make each Sunday School Project a matter of earnest prayer. I will spend a minimum of one-half hour a day in prayer for wisdom in guiding the individuals I work with.

5. As a member of the Church, I will be loyal to the total Church Program, and will set an example of holiness in dress, conversation, prayer, and Godly living, and will attend all services of the Church, if at all possible.

6. I will strive to make a personal contact and friendship with each person in order to win them to the Lord.

7. I understand it is my responsibility to be a frequent visitor of my prospect and absentees.

8. I will attend, unless anavoidably hindered, the staff meetings, and be dedicated to personal planning and group planning the Sunday School Staff Meetings.

9. If at any time, through sickness or other emergency, I am unable to fulfill my responsibilities, I will notify the Sunday School Superintendent at the earliest possible moment.

10. I will endeavor to lead by being punctual and regular in attendance to all the Sunday School Functions.

11. I understand that my appointment as a Sunday School Staff Member is for twelve month period, beginning the first day of January. Whether my appointment is made then or later in the year, I  understand it automatically terminates December 31st. If it is impossible for me to continue, or to accept reappointment, I will endeavor to notify the Sunday School Superintendent one month in advance.

12. I will be faithful in prayer, stewardship, evangelistic witnessing, and worship. If for some reason I cannot fulfill my duties, I will confer with the Sunday School Superintendent, and will surrender my duties to another individual if that seems advisable.

Knowing that responsibility and accountability are scriptural and absolutely essential, I pledge myself to the above principals and will do my best, with God’s help, to fulfill my obligations.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEENAGE ASSISTANT COVENANT

Article 9

 

REALIZING THE IMPORTANCE, PRIVILEGE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEACHING MINISTRY OF THE CALVARY TABERNACLE CHURCH:

I HEREBY DECLARE:

1. That I have repented of my sins, have been baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and have received the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

2. That I believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God. (II Pet. 1:20-21

3. That I believe teachers should be “an example of the believers, in work, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity– giving attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine for in doing this they shall both save themselves and them that hear thee.” (I Tim. 4:12-16)

4. That I believe God has called me to serve Him and that this opportunity to teach is from Him.

 

FURTHERMORE, I WILL ENDEAVOR TO BE FAITHFUL IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

 

1. That I will regularly attend Sunday morning, Sunday evening, midweek Bible study and Youth services, realizing that the Sunday school and church are inseparable.

2. That I will be faithful in attendance, arriving at least 15 min. early to welcome each pupil as he arrives. If at any time through some unavoidable circumstance I am unable to be present, I will notify the superintendent of my department as far in advance as possible. (I Cor. 4:2)

3. I will carefully prepare my assignments and have any handwork ready before Sunday morning. I will make each class session a matter of prayer.

4. That I will adhere to the church’s policy concerning separation from the world (drinking, dancing, smoking, movies, modest dress. The standard of holiness is to be maintained at church, at home, on the
job and at school. (Col. 3:17)

a. Modest dress for women excludes all dresss above the knees, low-cut attire, sleeveless outfits, slacks, jewelry (such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings), midrift blouses and shorts. (I Tim. 2:9,10)

b. Modes dress for men shall include properly trimmed hair.

c. In view of I John 2:15-16 (love not the world…), I will not have a television in my home. (In case there is one in the home you are living in, neither will I watch television programs, but will give my time to think on the things of God.)

 

5. That I will remain above reproach in the following areas:

a. My social behavior toward adults and my peers:

b. Talking about others in a negative way (we are to exhort and encourage.)

c. Honesty in all situations.

 

6. Realizing that I am helping in a class so that I might be trained to be a teacher I will cooperate with my head teacher and all other fellow workers, serving for my own well being and the greatest good of our school. (Eph 4:1-3)

7. That I will be an example unto my class by giving one-tenth of what I earn to support this local church. (Malachi 3:10)

8. That I will be loyal to the Pastor and program of the Calvary Tabernacle Church of Beloit, Wisconsin.

9. That I will fill in my Assistant Teachers report each week that I am teaching.
