I’ve Seen Changes, But Not In God

By E L Thornton

“I’VE SEEN CHANGES (BUT NOT IN GOD)”

Ps 37:25
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Changes do come. Time just automatically brings changes. Age will definitely bring changes.

I’m glad to see some changes, and I wish that some things would change. There are times that changes are good. There are times that changes are not so good. There are some things that I would like to change, and then there are something’s that I would never change. There have been changes that have brought regrets, and there’s been changes that have made a better life. There have been changes made that we would like to re-call, and there have been changes made that are priceless.

We change, life changes, history changes, friends change, Ford and Chey changes, we have welcomed some changes and mourned others. But, it makes no difference if I like it are not, changes do come.

David didn’t say it, but it seemed he was thinking it, “I’ve been young and now I’m old”, implies, “I’ve seen a lot off changes”.

I can’t began to image what he was talking about, but what ever it was, was worrying him and he was thinking about it.

I’m not old, by any sense of the word, but I have lived long enough that I have seen changes———

I. CHANGES IN SOCIETY:

GOVERNMENT:
Liberal Politicians have done more to damage good Government than anyone else. But we, at the same time, have sit idly by without any involvement, and let them led us down a path of human destruction.

They give away billions of tax dollars, on programs that don’t work, just to get reelected to their high paying office. Most of these programs only help people sink deeper into irresponsibility and despair.

We have let our present administration get by with unprecedented

decisions, that goes against our moral beliefs and goes against the popular opinion of the American people, and most of us have just sighed and said “that’s just this day and age.”

What this country needs is some good Godly people to raise a voice against all the rot and filth that’s going on in government.

SCHOOLS:

We are at present letting our educational system, which is controlled by liberals in the National Education Association, which is far more interested in a political agenda than educating our children, push a system down on us that will not teach our children even to read nor write.

Our good school teachers have already lost all control over discipline in the school rooms. Some teachers go to work each morning with the fear  that one of their pupils will do them bodily harm.

Goals 2000 is nothing more than a restructuring scheme, that has more to do with manipulating children’s attitudes than with teaching them to read and write.

MORALS:
Morals have changed. The word morals usually deals with ones sexual behavior. However morals deals with ones character.

Have we let Hollywood, the scum of society, set the precedent, or example of how we should live?

I remember a time when a bastard child was isolated, I’m not saying that was fair to that child, But welfare and Hollywood have made having children out of wedlock to look glamorous and profitable. Yes morals have changed.

There was a time that if someone used foul language in the presents of a lady it was cause for a fight. In our day ladies are more foul talkers than men.

There was a time when a man’s word was his bond, but in our day you better get a signed statement.

II. CHANCES AT CHURCH:

Amid all the changes in this world, the church has also under gone some changes. All of the changes that we have experienced have not been bad, but all of them haven’t been good. I’m not opposed to change, only
when it calls for a sacrifice in Godly principles and Bible truths, am I opposed to change. And I regret to say, that some of the changes I’ve seen at church have called us from the “straight and narrow way”, and caused us to “go the way that seemeth right unto man”.

Our pulpits remain uncommonly silent on some things that are causing  worldlinness to creep into our churches and will eventually render us powerless before the onslaught of the enemy of our souls.

In the 1950’s Roy Rogers and Dale Evans looked like white robed saints in comparison to TV today, and our preachers took a stand against that, but were are the preachers today that will take a stand against filth, the profanity, the vulgarity, the indecency, the obscenity, the impudence, the rudeness, that is pipelined into our living rooms, from which our smallest child is unprotected.

Then there is the fact that our love for one another has change. In our day it’s OK to do each other wrong, say defamatory things about our brother or our sister, make accusation against each other that are unfounded, and never go to our brother or sister to ask forgiveness. Will we stand before God with these ghastly, yes, horrifying, unforgiven things on our record.

What about our attitude toward God, has that changed? Do we have any “fear of the Lord” left? Do we serve God conscientiously? (An awareness of right and wrong, with a desire, or a compulsion, to do right) Will we eventually accept the mordern trend toward the charismatics. They want the gift of God without seperation from the world.

III. I’VE SEEN CHANGES, BUT NOT IN GOD:

God is the only constant—– Mal 3:6
6 For I am the LORD, I change not;

Heb 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

James 1:17
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither  shadow of turning.

He hasn’t changed regarding his promises to the saints:

It’s still——

Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it  shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

John 14:13-14
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Luke 10:19
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

He hasn’t changed his mind regarding his promises to sinners:

2 Pet 3:9-11
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Ezek 18:20-21
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
