“Jesus” is the Name

Introduction

The first thing let us be honest hearted and sincere about the truth of the Bible.

Study these many scriptures prayerfully with an open heart and unbiased mind, and “He will lead you into All Truth.”

I do not just give you references that you have to take your Bible and look up, but printed them out.

“For precept (rule) must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; her a little, and there a little:

For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people.” Isa. 28:10,11.

“The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Pro. 4:18.

“Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.”

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 2,3.

Remember there are no contradictions in the Bible.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Tim. 3:16.

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation,”

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Pet. 1:20,21.

“Jesus” Is The Name!

1. “Jesus”, Is The Only Name In Which Comes Healing and Salvation!

“This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.”

“Wether is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:11,12.

2. God Only Can Forgive Sins:

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” Isa. 43:25. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me: for I have redeemed thee.” Isa. 44:22.

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isa. 23:3-5.

“When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of palsy, son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”

“But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts.”

“Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?” Mark 2:5-7.

And His Name Is Jesus

3. Only One Redeemer and Saviour:

“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:”

“And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall see God:” Job, 19:25-26

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”

“And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.” Isa. 12:2-4.

“I, even I, am the LORD and beside me there is no Saviour.” Isa. 43:11.

“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.”

“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.”

“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; Isa. 44:6,8,24.

“Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me a just God and Saviour; there is none beside me.”

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isa. 45:21,22.

“As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.” Isa. 47:4.

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Cor. 5:19. Our Great God, Redeemer and Saviour, Was Jesus.
4. God, The Only Creator:

“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;” Isa. 44:24.

“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not,” Jn. 1:10.

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist,”

“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Col. 1:16-18.

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev. 4:11.

“And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Isa. 32:2

“If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

“To whom coming, as unto a living stone, is allowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,”

“Ye also, as lively stones, are built spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” 1 Pet. 2:3,4

“MOREOVER, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;”

“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.” Jn. 20:28

14. One God, All In Jesus Christ:

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” James 2:19

Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Tim. 3:16

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself;” II Cor. 5:19

Jesus said; “I and my Father are one” Jn. 10:30

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 Jn. 5:7

15. Jesus, Our God Ascended:

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight” Acts 1:9 This was Jesus, compare.

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” Tim. 3:16

“God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet” Ps. 47:5

Note, and compare, God went up with a shout and with the sound of a trumpet Jesus, this same and only God shall descend after the church, His body, His Bride, those who have taken His Name.

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord,”

“Therefore comfort one another with these words.” I Thess. 4:16-18

16. God coming, not to be confused with the Rapture, which will be before the tribulation but at the revelation when He returns after the tribulation to set up His Millennial Kingdom.

Please Harmonize and Compare.

“Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.” Ps. 50:3

“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.”

“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:” II Thess. 1:7-8

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these saying, Behold the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,” Jude VS. 14

“He will swallow up death in victory and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.”

“And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isa. 25:8,9

Israel has been waiting almost 2000 years since rejecting Christ as their Saviour and saying, away with him, crucify him, give us Barabbas.

“Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.”

“Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.”

“Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.” Isa. 35:3,5

The eyes that are blind and the ears that are deaf unto the truth of the gospel of Our Lord and Saviour.

“For, behold, the LORD will come with fire and with his chariots like- a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
“For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.” Isa. 66:15,16

“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:” Job. 19:25
Note in these verses, the Bible uses terms as God, Lord, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

They all refer to our one Lord. There is no contradiction. We need to be awakened.

“Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.”

“And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”

“And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and the saints with thee.” Zech. 14:3,5

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Rev. 1:7-8

No matter what title is used, the name is always “Jesus”.

17. The Great Commission

What does it mean: 1. Act of committing; 2. Authorizing; 3. To empower; 4. A person or a group of persons to carry out a certain function or command.

More than one commission or command. Men refer to Matt. 28:18.20 as, The Great Commission. The Bible does not say this, but gives many others also. Let us study them all, but we will start with this one first.

“Name of The Father.”

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

‘Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matt. 28:18-20

Now this say in the name (singular or title) what is the name of the Father.

“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” Isa. 83:18.

“For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, the Saviour:” Isa. 43:3.

“I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:” Jn. 5:43.

“In this Scripture, Jesus tells, “I am come in my Father’s Name”. In other words “Jesus in my Father’s Name”. Why should any one be surprised of this statement? For Jesus means Jehovah Saviour, thus we see that Jesus had his Father’s Name on the earth, and that name was Jesus.

“Name Of The Son”

Let us read what the angel of the Lord said.

“Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost,”

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matt. 1:20-21.

We also read that the angel of the Lord also appeared unto Mary.

“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come unto thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Lu. 1:34-35.

Thus, we see in Matt. and Lu.. that the Holy Ghost was the Father.

God, Is a Spirit, The Holy Ghost Is a Spirit,

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel which being interpreted is, God with us,” Matt. 1:23.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Lu. 2:11.
The Name of the Son is Jesus “Name Of The Holy Ghost”

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever:” Jn. 14:16.

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Jn. 14:18.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all this to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” Jn. 14:26.

So the Holy Ghost comes in Jesus Name. Truly Jesus is the representative Name of the Heavenly Family, therefore, when Jesus told the Apostles to baptize into the ‘Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, He certainly meant the “LORD JESUS”.

Let me illustrate this way. Some one gave you a bank check signed: Father, Son and Husband. He might be a father, he sure was a son, he also could be a husband. But you could not get your money. If that check was signed, Jim Joe Doe, Mister Doe had better have some money in the bank. It is the name that counts. And the Name of the Heavenly Family Is Jesus.

18. The First Great Commission.

Please read and note the promise, power and authority Jesus gave Peter at least one year before that. Matt. 28:19.

“And I say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matt. 16:18-19.

Peter used these keys of power and authority on the day of Pentecost.

Later on that same day under Peter’s mighty preaching, the multitude were troubled in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, (note, rest of the Apostles, yes Matthew, remember Peter had the keys to the kingdom) men and brethren, what shall we do?

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. “For the promise is unto you, and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (He is calling yet today) Acts 2:38, 39. Study the remaining part of this chapter.

You may ask why take Peter’s word? Peter had the keys, Peter was sent, he had the gospel, and the authority. This same Key of Power and Authority was used at Samaria, which was a mixed race. This was about one year after Pentecost.

At Samaria, Phillip’s preaching the kingdom of God, Peter and John went down, “prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: For as yet he was fallen upon none of them; only they were baptized in the NAME of the Lord Jesus. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.” Acts, 18:12-17.

19. Again, about eight years after the day of Pentecost, an angel of God told Cornelius what to do to be
saved,

“And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:”

“He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose “house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.”

“And when the angel which spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;”

“And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.” Acts 10:5-8.

And at the same time while God was dealing and talking unto Peter in a dream and vision, he Peter was commanded to go to the Gentiles.

“While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.”

“Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them”

“Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?”

“And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy men to send for thee into this house, and to hear words of thee,” Acts 10:19-22. Cornelius obeys, sends for Peter.

“Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.”

“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”

“The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)” Acts. 10:33,34,36.

“To him give, all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins,”

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.”

“And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

“For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, ”

“Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?”

“And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days,” Acts 10:43-48.

21. The Command or Commission according to Mark we read:

“And he said unto them. Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

“He that believeth and is baptized shall saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”

“They shall take up serpents: and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mk. 16:15-18.

21. The Last Great Command or Commission; we see in thebook of Luke.

That repentance, baptism and remission was to be preached in Jesus Name. This was just moments before Jesus was taken up to Heaven.

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,”

“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead on the third day:”

“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” “And ye are witnesses of these this,”

“And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”

“And he led them out as far as to Bethany and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.”

“And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”

“And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:”

“And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen,” Luke 24:45-52.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 1:1-4.

22. Great Bible Command Water Baptism Essential To Salvation.

What shall we do?

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized , every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

“For the promise, is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Acts 2:38-39.

The promise is extended unto you and your children, and to all that are called.

Without It We Have No Promise of Salvation!

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mk. 16:16

Without It We Cannot Enter The Kingdom of God!

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Jn. 3:5.

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

“For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.” Rom. 14:17-18.

Without It We Have No Promise Of Being Like Him In The Resurrection!

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?”

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life,”

“For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:”

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”

“For he that is dead is freed from sin.”

“Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:”

“Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.”
“For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.” Rom. 6:3-10.

23. Baptism Means Immersion, Planted, Buried. We have just read in Romans 6:5 where Paul used the term planted, we will now see where Paul speaks of the term as buried.

“Buried with him in baptism, where in also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Col. 2:12.

We have studied, The Name and Water Baptism or Born of Water. Let us study, Born of the Spirit. Jesus, The Almighty God Walks and Dwells Within us. Ye Are The Temple of The Living God!

“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” 2 Cor. 6:16.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4.

If God dwells in us He has a right to speak as the Spirit may chose.

24. At The Household Cf Cornelius The Holy Spirit Given To Gentile Believers.

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on them which heard the word.

And they of circumcision (Jews) which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost, “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.” Acts, 10:44-46,

25. The Men At Ephesus Speak With Tongues.

“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

“And all the men were about twelve.” Acts 19: 6-7.

Paul, Writer Of Much Of The New Testament Did.

“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:” “Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.” 1 Cor. 14:18-39.

All of the Apostles did, the mother of Jesus did.

Speaking with other tongues was the physical evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost. It was and is yet today.

“For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.”

“To whom he said. This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing;” Isa. 28:11-12.

26. The Biggest Pay off Ever, In The Very Near Future For Those That Bear His Name!

The Lord Jesus Christ is returning personally to his earth in His own physical scarred, but glorified body. He is coming as the Bridegroom to steal away His Bride (that spirit and truth filled part of the church) in the “secret rapture” or “meeting in the air.”

“My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Song of Sol. 2:10.

“Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee; hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.” Isa 26:20. (See also Luke 21:34-36; Acts 1:9-11)

“Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and hear it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. (the Bride must take the Bridegroom’s NAME) And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” Mal. 3:16-17.

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high because he hath known my NAME.” Ps. 91:14.

“Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his NAME.” Acts 15:14. In closing let me bring a few more verses on the name of Jesus.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Col. 3:17.

“This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.”

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:11-12.

Go to the church where they baptize in Jesus name, and receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with tongues. Please Remember:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”

“And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phil. 2:10-11.
