Job Responsibilities

** Shall oversee and supervise all operations of the Outreach Department under the direction of the pastor. Shall seek to implement all duties with tact, zeal, dedication, and love.

** Shall seek to involve all church members in some form of outreach ministry.
a. Shall take a church membership list at least twice a year and list what outreach ministry each member is currently active in. This will require you to talk to all outreach oriented directors: Sunday School, Bus Ministry, Visitor Follow-up, Home Bible Study, etc. – as well as your own ministries. Turn a copy of this list into the pastor.

** Shall assist the Pastor in teaching an Altar Workers Training class at least once per year. This shall be planned at the annual planning retreat.

Spiral Ministry

** Shall oversee the Growth Spiral ministry and promote it within the church by all available means.

** Shall have an annual Growth Spiral Commitment Service at the first of each year to inform and challenge the church to reach the new Spiral goals for that coming year. This service is to be planned at the Annual Planning Retreat.
a. Be sure to get an “A.C.T.I.O.N.” Ministry” commitment form from each adult member (16 years and older). Check a church membership list to insure all have turned one in. Personally
follow up and get one from any adult that was missed.
b. Take the names of those who committed to each ministry and type them on separate lists. Give the names to each of the outreach ministries that will be working with them (all who committed to Home Bible Study, give to the H.B.S. director, etc.).

** Shall keep the Growth Spiral bulletin board attractive and up-to-date, posting all needed information weekly, monthly, and quarterly:
a. Weekly – Fill in the monthly goal thermometer chart for each outreach ministry.
b. Monthly – Put up a new thermometer chart for next month goals.
c. Quarterly – (1) Fill in results on Spiral chart and (2) write in the number committed to involvement in each ministry for next quarter.

** Shall plan a 12-15 minute Growth Spiral promotion the first of each month. Give the results of the previous month and explain the goal for the next month. Keep this promotion POSITIVE in
spirit.
a. Use a variety of methods of promotion during this time. Don’t get in the rut of just “preaching” at people.

** Shall assist the Pastor in planning a quarterly Spiral-Outreach night in which the past Growth Spiral results are presented and new member commitments are obtained for the coming quarter. Keep this service positive is spirit also.
a. At this commitment service, instead of using the “A.C.T.I.O.N.” form again, try having them recommit with a “standing commitment.” For example: Ask all who committed to bring a visitor last quarter to stand (read their names off the list). Now, brag on them real good (they did their best and hopefully they reached their goal). Next, ask those who wish to recommit to bringing a visitor the coming quarter to remain standing (hopefully few, if any, will sit down). Finally, encourage additional people to stand and join those already standing. Count them and add any new
names to the list. Try to get more committed to bringing a visitor this quarter than last quarter. Repeat this for each of the Spiral / Outreach ministries on the list. It works!

** Shall assist the Pastor in developing a strategy to strengthen and promote any Spiral outreach ministry that misses their monthly or quarterly goals. If we will do our part, God will do His part!

Constant Contact Consciousness

** Shall oversee and promote the Constant Contact Consciousness ministry within the church by all available means.

** Shall encourage and instruct all members committed that a contact is more than just an invitation to church, but is rather:
a. Sharing their personal testimony (salvation, deliverance, healing, etc.). Or can be explaining the Word in any meaningful way.
b. Does not need to be a long, drawn-out time of study or discussion (yet is more than just inviting them to church).
c. They can witness to the same people week after week, and still count them each time.

** Shall pass out C.C.C. slips each Sunday morning to all who are committed to involvement.
a. The C.C.C. slip must be passed out by hand to each individual committed, either by yourself or by your designated helpers. This is very important.

** Shall ask each person who receives a C.C.C. slip to drop it in the Sunday Morning offering or in another designated location. This too is important.

** Shall collect slips from ushers and post totals each week on the Spiral Bulletin Board. Inform the pastor in writing of that weeks totals.

** Shall keep records to insure that all who are committed to involvement in C.C.C. hand in their slip. If any individual forgets to hand in their slip, give them another on Sunday Night
or Bible Study night. Encourage faithfulness.

Saturday Door Knocking

** Shall oversee and promote the Saturday Door Knocking ministry within the church by all available means.

** Shall meet with all who committed to Saturday Door Knocking at the church once a month on Saturday morning at 9:30 am. After prayer, they knock on doors until noon. They then return to the church for a group lunch and “pep talk” with testimonies. After lunch, they again go out for another hour or two of door knocking.
a. Various methods are to be used: Quest Survey, Enroll-to-Grow, Bus Ministry Enrollment, what ever the Growth Spiral shows is needed.

** Shall call ALL who are committed to involvement in Saturday Door Knocking the night before you go out and encourage their participation. Get a verbal commitment. This is very important.

** Shall develop a program to encourage the faithfulness and burden of those involved in this ministry.
a. You may wish to try assigning each door knocking couple to their own “Vineyard”. A vineyard is a certain area on the map. Each month, the couple prays for their “vineyard” and  labors within their “vineyard” in various ways. The key to this method is to help each couple develop a burden for their particular area of the city.
** Shall placed on a map all areas knocked so that teams don’t overlap themselves.

Tract Ministry

** Shall maintain an inventory of tracts authorized by the Pastor.
a. Tract selection should include a choice of material from Search For Truth, Pentecostal Publishing House, and Eddie Jones “Know The Truth Literature”. Send for a “sample packet” from each if needed.

** Shall keep an adequate supply of tracts stamped, stocked and ready for use in storage shelves.
a. Keep an up-to-date church address stamp available to stamp tracts as needed.

** Shall inspect the tract rack each service to insure that the rack is stocked, neat and in good condition.

** Shall keep an eye out for any new tracts that should be added to the Tract Ordering List.

** Shall assist in any way in tract distribution.

a. Jail Ministry – Bro. Jeff Allison
b. Deaf Ministry – Sis. Sandra Fells
c. Singles Ministry – Sis. Debbie Ratley
d. Spanish Ministry – Bro. Joe Rio

** Shall meet with the above directors once a month as a group and plan activities within each.
a. Meeting may be patterned after the Departmental Monthly Council.
b. Shall collect a written report from each.
c. The annual plans of each shall be brought to the annual Departmental Planning Retreat.

** Shall insure that these four directors have an up-to-date Job Description. This is to be updated each year.

Other Duties

** Shall work with the Pastor to select a department assistant to help you in all aspects of the outreach ministry.

** Shall endeavor to not schedule any departmental activities on Monday night. Monday will be known as “Family Night” and all church members are encouraged to stay home with their families on this night.

** Shall attend all Annual Planning Retreats and Monthly Departmental Planning councils.

** If unable to attend because of emergency, shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute attend in your place.

** Shall be an example to the church in faithfulness by attending all church services and functions.

** Shall be an example to the church in soulwinning by being continually involved in the Home Bible Study Ministry, or some other form of outreach ministry.

** Shall be an example to the church in spiritual growth by coming at least one-half hour before each service to pray.

** Shall hand in an official monthly report at the Monthly Council.

** Shall perform additional duties as required.
