Job Purpose

You will help encourage and usher in the presence of God into our worship through other aspects of worship. As the Sign Language and Drama Director, your focus will be on ensuring that interpretation would be provided for any hearing implied saints of God or visitors, the Sign Choir and their specials, and the Drama team’s productions for holidays and special events. Also, involved in the production of these, is the leading of the Holy Ghost to the song that will best full fill the God’s desire for his children to receive.

Job Qualifications

9. Must care a burden for Sign Language and the Drama Ministry
10. Must have a knowledge of the operation of the Sign Language/Drama Ministry

Job Responsibilities
** Shall oversee and director all operations of the Sign Language/Drama Department under the direction of the Pastor. As well as, fulfilling all responsibilities with love, passion, and dedication

** All members that would like be involved in the Sign Language/Drama Department must be be approved through the Pastor.

a. All participance must be willing to reasonably comply with the Pastor’s policy on holiness and also his platform policy.
b. All new converts should have completed the New Convert Program before being used in the Sign Language/Drama Ministry, unless given special permission has been given by the Pastor.

** Shall be responsible for new music that will edify the church through Sign Language Ministry and through the Drama Production Ministry.

** Shall Schedule regular practice times for the Sign Choir, and Sign Specials. As well as, regular practice times when called upon for the Drama team for do Holiday productions and/or special events.
** Shall encourage and motivate Sign Language interpreters, Sign Choir members, and the Drama team to worship God in all things.

** Shall direct and oversee all practices and productions to make insure that all responsibilities are done correctly and:
a. Able to minister to all ages
b. Make sure that they are Spirit lead
c. Make sure that they are skilled
d. That in all things we glorify God.

** Shall sit and meet with the pastor to plan accordingly the schedule of the Sign Choir as well as the schedule for the Drama team for Holidays and special occasions. a. To be planned at the annual planning retreat.

Sign Language Interpreters Responsibilities

** Shall oversee and direct all operations of the Sign Language interpretations under the directions and leading of the Pastor.
a. Shall seek to accomplish all responsibilities with love, passion, and dedication.

** Shall see that interpretation for American Sign Language is provided for any Saint of God or visitor that may be Deaf in every Service.
a. Sunday morning service at 10:30a.m.
b. Sunday evening service at 6:00p.m.
c. Wednesday evening service at 7:00p.m.

** Shall encourage, strengthen, build faithfulness, and join together participation in the interpreters of ASL in our church.

** Arrange get together for the interpreters once a month to have a refreshing time of fellowship with each other.

** Shall insure that each interpreter has had the proper training to be able to interpret for a church service.

** Shall impress the importance of spiritual preparation for each individual interpreter before interpreting the worship service and the preaching of God’s word. Ask they spend time in prayer before the service begins.

** Shall pray that all interpreters would be used as a instrumental part in the glory of God in a service.

Sign Choir Responsibilities
** Shall oversee and direct all operations of the Sign Choir under the directions and leading of the Pastor.
a. Shall seek to accomplish all responsibilities with love, passion, and dedication.
** Shall see that the Sign Choir is prepared to sign once a month on the last Sunday of each month and also on special occasions.

** Shall encourage faithfulness to practice, enthusiasm, and participation of all Sign Choir members, to build the Sign Choir in quality and size.

** Shall have regular scheduled Sign Choir practice:
a. Director should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to practice time for preparation and set up.
b. Sign Choir shall start on time, if all the members are there or not.
c. Always begin practice time with a word of prayer.
d. Be sure that all soloist know their parts and review or guild them as needed.
e. Insure that if on a non Church day, if a practice has taken place that the church building is locked up and the lights and heat are turned off.

** Impress the importance of spiritual preparation before they go on the platform and Sign.
a .Ask that they spend time in prayer directly service
b. Pray together as a group before service

** Shall keep track and filed the songs that the Sign Choir has done, and to keep them for a later date if needed.

** Shall plan Sign Choir specials with heavy attention on our yearly revival in June, Christmas, and Easter. Plan accordingly at annual planning retreat.

** Shall also establish a Junior Sign Choir from ages 4-13.
a. Responsible for teaching them a new song each month to sign on the second sunday of each month, under the guiding of the Pastor.
b. Shall make sure that, though they are just kids, practices are run with order.
c. Shall insure that practice time starts directly on time.
d. Always begin each practice with a word of prayer.
e. Keep enthusiasm, and desire going in the hearts and minds of these young and tender hearts for worship through the Junior Sign Choir.

Drama Team Responsibilities
** Shall oversee and supervise all operations of the Drama Team under the directions and leading of the Pastor.

a. Shall seek to accomplish all responsibilities with love, passion, and dedication.
** Shall encourage faithfulness, enthusiasm, and participation of all Drama Team members to build the team with both quality and in size.

** Shall plan to do at least two productions a year on Christmas and Easter and upon any other request from the Pastor for special events and services.
a. Shall be planned accordingly at the annual planning retreat.

** Shall dedicate time for finding and creating the next drama production under the direction of the Holy Ghost and the Pastor.
a. Shall keep track and file productions of the pastor for remembrance or if needed.

** Insure that regular practice time will be arrange for productions.
a. Director should arrive 15 minutes prior to practice time to set-up and prepare for the practice.
b. All practices should start on time, either if all members are there or not.
c. Give good communication to each part of the production that members can practice on their own time.
d. Shall insure that when having practice on a none church day, that doors are locked, and the lights and heat are turned off.

** Shall impress the importance of spiritual preparation as well as physical preparation.
a. Ask that members spend time in prayer before the service begins.
b. Begin each practice with a word of Prayer
c. Ask that each member choose a day to fast for the productions as the dates for them approach.

** Shall pray that the Drama Team will be an instrument to usher in the presence of God into a church service.

Other Duties
** Shall work with the Pastor to select an assistant to work with you in all phases of the Sign Language Department and the Drama Ministry.

** Shall endeavor not to schedule any departmental activities on Monday night. Monday will be known as “Family Night” and all church members are encouraged to stay home with their families on this night.

** Shall attend all Annual Planning Retreats and Monthly Departmental Planning Councils.

** If unable to attend because of an emergency, you shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute attend in your place.

** Shall hand in an official monthly report at the Monthly Staff Council.

** Shall be an example to the church in faithfulness by attending all church device and functions, as well if possible to all prayer meetings.

** Shall be an example to the church in soul winning by being continually involved in the Home Bible Study Ministry, or some other form of outreach ministry.

** Shall be an example to the church in spiritual growth by coming to at least half an hour before each service to pray.

** Shall perform additional duties and required.

Organizational Relationships
The Sign Language/Drama Director is responsible to be directly under the Pastor. Each year before the Annual Planning Retreat, the director and the Pastor shall review this job description, update it, and improve it. Accountability of the director and the members of all above groups shall be given to the Pastor on a monthly bases by an appointed attendance taker for each group. The Sign Language/Drama Director is responsible for all staff and personnel, and shall work closely with each department to insure that all responsibilities are being completed with faithfulness, passion, and dedication. The term of this office shall be for one year.

Job Goals For The Year of 2014
** Delegate the Junior Sign Team to an understudy.
** Improve and enlarge the Sign Choir.
** Develop more of an outreach for the Deaf.
** Explore the possibilities of putting on a whole Christmas production with many Ministries involved with in it (Sign Choir, Drama Team, Choir, and Jr. Sign Choir, Jr. Choir, Puppets, etc)
** Plan the Christmas and Easter Drama.
** Develop Job Descriptions for all interdepartmental positions.
** Explore ideas of a tent revival and having the Sign Choir and/or Drama Team do a Production.
** Create more ways of creating unity within the departments and their members.
