Sample Letter to New Choir Members

Dear

Congratulations on your decision to join the adult choir. You are joining the greatest choir in the world! Get prepared to receive some of the greatest blessings you have ever received, and at the same time, be a blessing to someone else.

The ministry you are becoming involved in, is designed to lead the congregation in worship, and musically express the wonderful truths of the Word of God. That means that , you have a vital role in the church service. I challenge you to accept this burden with enthusiasm and vow to be the best choir member you can be.

Some ways to be a better choir “minister” are:

1. Attitude – Your attitude towards your role as a choir member is probably the single most important thing to determine whether you will successfully perform your duties. You are the one that determines that attitude – so let’s decide to have the proper attitude!

2. Prayer – Pray every day for the choir and especially for me as your director. Choir prayer time is 6:00 – 6:30 on Sunday. Pastor Kilgore was so right when he said, “The choir cannot be less spiritual than the audience if they are to minister effectively.” Do not sing in the choir if you have not spent time in prayer.

3. Appearance – Remember all eyes are on you. Always be sure you are dressed very neatly and very well groomed. Stand and sit up straight through-out the entire service. Pretend the video camera is on you — It is!!

4. Attendance – If you have a real burden for the choir and the work of Cod, you will make every effort to attend all rehearsals and church services. If you must be absent, please call the church office or call me at home. (481-6432)

5. Example – Be an example:

a. in leading in worship during the church service.

b. by living what you sing. Let the one you sing about shine through you at all times.

c. by always building up your -c arch, choir, and fellow choir members. Never tear down!!

In closing, I want to welcome you to the Life Tabernacle Adult Choir. You are involved in the greatest church in the world, with the greatest pastor of the century. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and serve the Lord with your whole heart.

Sincerely,
Lindel M. Anderson

P.S. My goal is to have a 100 voice Adult choir. As a member of the choir you become my recruiting agents. Encourage your friends to join!!!
