Wisdom in the Hyssop
By Albert Friend

God so loved the world He became hyssop in order to apply the Blood to our lives.
Text: “Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part Thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and 1 shall be clean: wash me, and 1 shall be whiter than snow. ” (Psalms 51 :6-7)

Hyssop is God’s object lesson. Hyssop is a plant with bitter leaves the Israelites used to sprinkle the blood on their door posts the night of the first Passover. Make me to know the wisdom in ”The Hyssop.”
God’s Object Lesson “And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over [The Feast of Passover] the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.” (Exodus 12:22-23)

The book of Hebrews is a good book to study on this subject. It speaks of the hyssop that was broken off the plant and used to sprinkle blood for the atonement for sin. Jesus body is the hyssop and His blood was used for the atonement. “For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.” (Hebrews 9:19-22)

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. ” (Hebrews 9:27-28)

“But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till His enemies be made His footstool. For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. ” (Hebrews 10:12-14)

Heaven is a sinless place for sinless people. It was created for that purpose. No sin can enter there. Because of Adam’s sin God devised a way for man to go there. He made a second Adam. His Name is Jesus. God could not find a sinless man to pay the price for sin. For that reason God did it all alone and by Himself. To avoid controversy God created a pure sinless seed in the womb of Mary. When her child was born God became the life of that body. He became God manifest in the flesh. He was a sinless man with sinless blood. Now God Himself had a sinless body with sinless blood to pay His own price for sin.

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, ” (1 Timothy 3: 16) God’s love for the world was so great He paid His own price for sin. He died for me. This makes Him just in forgiving my sins. The rule was, the just must die for the unjust, the innocent must die for the guilty. He looked for a man and found none. God manifest Himself in the flesh so He could be that sinless man.
