Dear Johnny,

Your Sunday School teacher tells me that your birthday is coming up this week. Let me take this opportunity to wish you a very happy day… I trust that God’s richest blessings will be upon you this
coming year. You’ll be a year older, probably a little bit taller, and I pray, even more prepared to spend your life serving Jesus Christ.
So, have a grand day. Say hello to your folks for me.

YOUTH SURVEY LETTER

(Lead in for personal visitation)

(DATE)

Dear Sherry,

Hey! I need your help.
You know there is a lot of talk today about marijuana, women’s lib and other controversial subjects.
OK. Now let me explain…I’m a high school student in the Oak Forest area. I’m really interested how you, as another teenager, think and feel about current issues. I’ve been asked to get the opinions of other high school kids and put them together with mine.  Sometime this week I’m going to stop by your home and ask your honest opinion on some of these current issues.  The poll will only take a few minutes. “Thank You”, so much for your time and thoughts.

Sincerely,

P.S. I sure will appreciate having your opinion, Sherry.

YOUTH ABSENTEE LETTER

(DATE)

(Inside Address)

Hi!

Since you missed Sunday School again last week, I know there must be a major problem. Tell you what… Why don’t you check the correct reason below and return it to me on Sunday morning? Then I’II know the real problem.  I was kidnapped by a giant Polar bear.

The wind blew me away to a South Sea Island… I’m waiting for the next boat back.

My mother locked me in the closet until I did my chores.

They asked me to play Tarzan in the next movie and I was practicing my swinging.

A giant hen thought I was one of her eggs and wouldn’t let go ‘until I hatched.

The Big Bad Wolf got me (stole my red hood, too.)

Well, while playing jacks on the freeway, my ball rolled away…and…

Seriously, I missed you. Come see us Sunday.

Your friend,

Dear,

Thank you for attending our worship service Sunday…You were a blessing to me in your attendance and concern about spiritual things.  In our Sunday morning services we stress the basics of Christ’s “Good News”. That is, a clear presentation of why God sent His Son and what His coming can mean to you in your every day life.  We have a different service on Sunday evenings at (time). A more informal, friendship service. Often lay members of our church take part in that service sharing how Christ has helped them in practical ways during recent days.  Then on Wednesday evenings we meet to pray specifically for one another’s needs and to share in Bible Study. I care about you and your needs. I’d like to help. Try me, I’m a good listener.  If I, or one of my staff, can help in any way, please let me know… Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely in Christ,

PASTOR JOHN SMITH @

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP PROSPECT VISITOR KIT INSTRUCTIONS

These letters are designed to follow up on prospective members who visit your church.

LETTER V-1:
Should be sent immediately after the pastor or a member of the church staff visits in a home of the prospective member. (A prospective member is a visitor who is saved and looking for a church home). Letter is signed by whichever member of the staff calls in the home.

LETTER V-2:
Sent out the following week, provided the prospect has not joined the church in the meantime.

LETTER V-3:
Sent out the third week… again, provided they have not already joined the church.

AN ALTERNATE PLAN:

If an actual visit is made by the pastor or a member of the staff during the second week, it would be better to send V-2 the third week… and again, if a staff visit is made that next week, it would be better to wait and send V-3 the week following.

In other words, if you can afford to make that many staff visits, it’s better not to make both a staff visit and send a letter in the same week (excepting the first week, when you then send LETTER V-1).

LETTER V-2

(DATE)

(INSIDE ADDRESS)

Dear,

I prayed for you today. And when I prayed I asked God, “Please blessed the family and give them divine
wisdom about how you want them to serve you.”  I admit I’m somewhat “selfish”… because I’d love for
you to be part of our church family every week. So remember, you are not praying alone.

Your friend,

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP PROSPECT VISITOR KIT  LETTER V-3

(INSIDE ADDRESS)

Dear,

Perhaps you think I’m being “pushy”… but I assure you that is not the case. Because I know our enemy (Satan) is doing everything he can to confuse you about what God’s will is for your family.  My primary concern is for you and your family… because I  care about you. Please, if I can help in any way, don’t hesitate to call. I will be looking for you in the services this Sunday.

Your friend,

P.S. My home phone number is 714/ 968-0351.

Dear,

“Trust” is a special kind of feeling. And when you trust someone it makes them feel good……A special kind
of good feeling.  Sunday, you trusted me with someone who is special to you…And I want to thank you.
Perhaps the most precious possession you have is here at Central Baptist Temple we recognize the trust
you’ve placed in us…and we want…and try to live up to your highest expectations.  The Bus workers that picked up your child really love those who ride with them…and want to help in every way they can.
The teacher who taught…..the department workers who sang and played with…..the department superintendent….the secretary…and all of our workers prepared and worked so that your child could learn more about God’s love for her, a child’s responsibility for their parents, the kind of good moral values,
and love of country.  I’m looking forward to welcoming your child here at Central Baptist Temple next Sunday.  If I can help in other ways, please call me here at the church office, 842-0648 or (at home) 847-5903.

Because I really care,

Dan Huntting

Bus Minister
