SAMPLE JOB DESCRIPTION: YOUTH OUTREACH MINISTRY SAMPLE #1

Job Purpose

To motivate the youth of the church in a manner that will result in young people being saved. Major focus will be placed on organizing programs to get the young people involved in outreach. Outreach retreat, spring promotional contest, summer evangelism trips, and the fall home coming. In focusing upon these programs various methods of outreach will be used such as door knocking, surveys, home bible studies, and any other programs approved by the Pastor and Youth Director.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be filled with the Holy Ghost
2. Must meet the qualifications for church membership
3. Must be loyal to the pastor
4. Must have a working knowledge of soulwinning
5. Must be organized
6. Must be able to instill enthusiasm into the young people
7. Must have a burden for young people
8. Must be able to lead and motivate people.
9. Must be active with the youth for one year prior to being youth outreach director.
10. Must attend all youth services.

Job Responsibilities

** Shall organize and develop the four major outreach programs under direction of pastor and youth director.
** Shall teach the young people how to win souls. Shall be in charge of two consecutive youth services at beginning of Quarter. This goal should be accomplished by working with youth both one on one and in groups.
** Will hand in a weekly report to the pastor and youth director of what is going on.
** Will hand in a quarterly plan of what will be taking place for the next quarter to the pastor and youth director.

Winter Outreach Retreat

A. Shall hand in information on three different locations including: price, locations, and activities to do. This shall be done one year in advance of going and handed into the pastor.
B. Shall organize fund raisers to subsidize the price of outreach retreat.
C. Shall promote trip within the youth group.
D. Shall organize the retreat. The main focus is to have unsaved friends of the youth group attend. It is to be fun,uplifting,and spiritual. Director will be responsible to hand in an outline of the retreat to the youth director three weeks prior to leaving.

8:00 – Breakfast
9:00 – Devotions (Youth Outreach Director)
10:00 – 12:00 – free time
12:00 – 1:00 – lunch
1:00 – 3:00 – planed activities
3:00 – 4:00 – free time
4:00 – 5:00 – dinner
5:00 – 6:00 – free time
6:00 – 9:00 – evangelistic service
(with special speaker)

E. Shall be in charge of getting permission slips from parents of unsaved young people.
F. Shall give a report of results of retreat to the church that Sunday night.

Spring Promotional Contest

The Spring contest shall run for one quarter of three months. It shall work in this manner the youth group shall be divided into teams (number may vary with size of the youth group). Youth Outreach Director and Youth Director shall pick team leaders, they should be young people with a desire to do a work for God. After leaders are selected they shall select their teams in a private meeting with the Youth Outreach Director. The contest goal is to reach 100,000 points. The goal will be obtained by points being awarded for outreach methods.

Some examples for the points:

50 points for survey of knocking doors
100 points for every first time visitor
2500 points for every Into His Marvelous Light Home Bible Study taught
5000 points for every person baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.

When a young person is converted they are on the team of the member that brought them to the Lord. The prize shall be the evangelism trip paid for the winning team by the youth division.

A. Shall be in charge of organizing and overseeing Spring Promotional Contest.

1. Select team leaders with Youth Director.
2. Meet with team leaders to select teams.
3. Motivate team leaders in getting their team to reach their goals.
4. Will let team leaders do the outreach with the team.
5. Will organize the follow up of all contacts.

B. Will give a weekly update of contest at youth service and once a month on a Sunday night Service.

C. Shall meet with team leaders once a week for the following reasons.

1. Weekly reports from team leaders.
2. Brain storm for new ideas.
3. Motivate leaders.
4. Answer any questions.
5. Help teach and train them in outreach.

D. Spring Promotional Contest shall be the major outreach project of the youth. Seeing that after the contest is over the youth shall follow up on the contacts they have made.

Summer Evangelism Trip
Youth shall take a Summer Evangelism Trip in August. The trip shall consist of going to a Home Missions church for a week and helping the Pastor by doing outreach under his direction.

A. Shall be in charge of handing in five suggestions to the Pastor of where to go on the trip.

B. Shall be in charge of contacting and making all necessary arrangements of the trip.

1. Contacting Pastor of visiting church.
2. Arranging food and sleeping accommodations.
3. Arranging transportation.

C. Shall be in charge of getting fund raisers together for the trip.

D. Selecting and filtering out young people if it is necessary.

Fall Home Coming

Home Coming is to be a youth revival with a Saturday as a day of fun, softball, volleyball and a Bonfire.

A. Shall be in charge of making flyers and getting groups together to pass out flyers. As well as contact all people in the follow up files.

B. Shall be in charge of getting Park Facilities with softball field, volleyball net, hot coals for a barbecue, and any other needed equipment.

C. Shall work with pastor and youth director in selecting who will be involved in the service.

5. Speaker (Pastor will select)

Other Duties

** Organize and follow up in all contacts made through out the year. Get young people involved in visitation.
** Shall attend all annual planning retreats and monthly departmental planning councils.
** Shall work with outreach director on using young people with the church outreach once they have reached the age of eighteen or older.
** Shall teach at least ten Bible studies a year personally and be an example to the church.
** Shall hand in a monthly report at monthly council meetings.
** Shall perform additional duties as required.

Organizational Relationships

The youth outreach director is directly responsible to the pastor and youth director. He shall work in harmony with both. He shall attend all youth services and help the youth director in any way possible.

** Attend regional youth worker seminar.
** Read any books by which the Pastor gives.

** Train and develop a visitor follow up program.
** Train young person to work with visitor follow up.
** Develop a visitor letter and mailing list.
** Note: You are not the youth pastor! Your goal is not necessarily to see that the youth maintain and advance in spiritual growth. Leave this up to youth pastor.
