JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Associate Pastor

Job Qualifications

1. Must be filled with the Holy Ghost.

3. Must be loyal to the Pastor.
4. Must be willing to work in harmony with others.
5. Must carry a burden for souls of men and women.
6. Must be able to generate excitement for the job.
7. Must be able to lead and motivate people.
8. Must be faithful and dependable in accomplishing duties of the position.

JOB PURPOSE

As the Associate Pastor for the local Congregation you will work with the Pastor to minister to the needs of the people. You will work in harmony with the Pastor, and be loyal to him. Also you will work in harmony with the Elders and Deacons, to form with the Pastor the Church Leadership Council.

The Pastoral ministry is one of feeding, protecting, guiding, and shepherding the flock. Realizing that this is one of the gifts of God given for the Church. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:11-12 “And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

As Associate Pastor you will have the oversight of the Youth Ministry of the Local Church. You will oversee the Youth ministers working in the Church. You will have oversight of all youth ministries and activities, even though you may not be performing all of the work. Along with the Pastor you will arrange youth activities for every age and facet of our local congregation. Responsible leaders will be placed over each of these ministries, (they will be selected by you and the Pastor) and they will answer directly to you. You will see to it that the Jr. Hi, Sr. Hi, Singles, and Young Marrieds are all ministered to in a way that pertains to them. You will also see that youth fund raising activities are implemented. (S.F..C. etc.)

You will also have oversight of the Evangelism Ministry of the local Church. Making sure that we have an active outreach, constant contact awareness, and visitor follow-up. An outreach director should be appointed, and approved by the pastor, who could oversee the actual work of outreach.

Every effort possible should be made to expand your pastoral ministry of prayer, preaching and teaching of the word of God.

Your main purpose is to assist the Pastor to the best of your ability. Realizing the importance of the Pastoral ministry to the local congregation.
