JOB DESCRIPTION: SOUND DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR

JOB PURPOSE
To administer and motivate the Sound department in a manner that will bring order and courtesy. To insure that all sound people are fully trained in use of the sound equipment. To keep all sound equipment maintained and serviced.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be filled with the Holy Ghost.
2. Must meet the qualifications for church membership.
3. Must be loyal to the Pastor.
4. Must be willing to work in harmony with others.
5. Must carry a burden for the Sound Department.
6. Must be able to lead and motivate others.
7. Must be a lover and the souls of men and women.
8. Must be faithful and dependable in accomplishing duties.
9. Must have a stable walk with God.
10. Must have a knowledge of the operation and function of all sound equipment.
11. Must not have a Television in his/her home.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
** Shall oversee and supervise all operations of the Sound Department under the direction of the Pastor. Shall seek to fulfill all responsibilities with tact, dedication, and love.
** Shall organize the Sound Department into 3 teams of 2 people. Each team shall serve for one week at a time. The teams shall rotate so as one team will serve every third week.
** Shall post a schedule of when teams are to serve one month in advance. All sound people are to receive a copy of this schedule.
** Shall request that the sound team have all equipment ready 15 minutes before service starts.
** Shall supervise all sound teams:

a. Strongly encourage all department staff to come early for prayer before taking their post.
b. In the event of absences, shall always find a suitable replacement for that service.

** Shall insure that all staff are of proper dress:
a. men should wear tie and jacket.
b. women should be attractively dressed and hair fixed.
c. make mention to Pastor any staff violations is dress or appearance.

** Shall insure that all sound person have any supplies that might be needed. ie. blank tapes, new sound equipment.
** Shall have a brief monthly meeting with all staff before service to go over any problem areas if needed.
** Shall hold a sound personnel training night under the direction of the Pastor once a year.

THIS IS IMPORTANT:
All sound personnel should have a up-to-date job description that outlines all duties, procedures, and dress code.
** Shall provide a service to the church be selling cassette tapes of each service. This money will be used to help pay for department expenses and perhaps have an annual appreciation banquet or barbecue for your staff.
** Shall provide the Pastor a list of recommendations for replacements when and vacancies occur on the Sound Dept. staff.

OTHER DUTIES
** Shall work with the Pastor to select a department assistant to work with you in all or your various duties.
** Shall endeavor to not schedule any department activities on Tuesday night. Tuesday will be known as “Family Night” and all church members are encouraged to stay home with their families on this night.
** Shall be an example to the church in faithfulness by attending all church services and special functions.
** Shall be an example to the church in soulwinning by being involved in the Home Bible Study Ministry, or some other form of outreach ministry.
** Shall be an example to the church in spiritual growth by coming at least one-half hour before each service to pray.
** Shall attend all Annual Planning Retreats and Monthly Departmental Planning Councils.
** If unable to attend because of an emergency, shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute attend in your place.
** Shall hand in an official monthly report at the Monthly Staff Council.
** Shall perform any additional duties that are required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Sound Department Director is responsible directly to the Pastor. Each year, the Pastor and Sound Department Director will review the Job Description, update and improve to make more applicable to the position. Accountability shall consist of a monthly report of all activities and upcoming events. The Director is responsible for all Sound personnel. The director shall work closely with all departments and keep harmony with each. Evaluation of performance of this position shall be performed by the Pastor on an annual basis. The term of this office shall be for one year.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

** Obtain and read all owner’s manual for sound equipment.
** Schedule a meeting Bro. Black’s sound director Bro. Smith.
** Read additional book(s) provided by Pastor.

JOB GOALS FOR THE YEAR OF 1992

** Train and begin sound teams.
** Hold a sound personnel training night.
** Begin tape ministry.
** Purchase any sound equipment needed.
** Develop Job Description for all interdepartmental positions.
