Job Purpose

To administer and assist the Music Department in the technical side of Music Ministry. “How will they hear without a preacher and how will the preacher be heard without a soundman.” Major focus will be upon perfecting and running the sound at Calvary Apostolic Center. You will also be responsible for a group of four qualified sound assistants, to promote a spirit of worship and praise.

2. Must meet the qualifications for church membership.

3. Must be loyal to the Pastor.

4. Must be willing to work in harmony with others.

5. Must carry a burden for the Sound and Music Ministry.

6. Must be able to lead and motivate people.

7. Must be very faithful and dependable in accomplishing given tasks and duties.

8. Must maintain or have serviced needed repairs of all equipment.

9. Must keep updated on current equipment offered on the sound industry today.

10. Must keep extreme accurate records of all expenses to be presented to the Board of Directors for reimbursment, purchasing new equipment, et al.

Job Responsibilities

Sound Engineer

** As head Sound Engineer, your job will consist of perfecting the sound at Calvary Apostolic Center under the direction of the Pastor and Music Minister, first giving account to the Pastor and working in harmony with the Minister of Music. The Sound Engineer is a staff paid position, therefore you will be responsible to attend and run sound for the following:

A) Sunday Morning and Evening Services, beginning with choir and Orchestra Practice.
B) Thursday Bible Study.
C) Annual Singspiration.
D) Annual World Outreach Conference.
E) Annual Music Conference and Seminar.
F) Any other Special or Regular assigned services.
G) Additional requirements will be to teach the class on sound engineering at the Music Conference and Seminar.

Other Duties

Shall attend all Annual and Monthly Department Planning Sessions.

In addition to a one week paid vacation per year, the Sound Engineer is only allowed to miss or be tardy 6 times per year, thereafter, a meeting with the pastor will be conducted.

Must spend at least one-half hour in the prayer room before services.

Shall hand in an official monthly report at the Monthly Staff Meeting.

Shall be responsible in running and maintaining with needed assistants Calvary’s Music Studio.

Shall perform additional duties as required.

Organizational Relationships

The Sound Engineer is responsible directly to the Pastor. The estimated value of Calvary’s sound equipment is $275,000, therefore extreme accountability is crucial. Each year, the Pastor, Music Director and Sound Engineer will update and improve this job description as needed. Accountability shall consist of a monthly report of all music, service and upcoming events. The Sound engineer is responsible for staff and personnel. Evaluation of performance of this position shall be performed by the head Pastor on an annual basis.

Training and Development

Attend PIT Sound Arts and Equipment show in the Spring and fall of the year, every year of the position.

Attend Alexandria, La. Song and Soundfest in October, every year of the position.

Adjust budget for the purchase of Sinhauser and Noaman microphones

Purchasing of a new 24 channel Fostex studio board.

Purchase new JBL sanctuary speakers.

Update from Yamaha Custom Recording drums to Yamaha Maple Custom drums for the main auditorium.
