Job Purpose

Your purpose is to minister to the young people of New Life Assembly through social interaction and example as well as through preaching and teaching. You will be assisting the Youth Director by helping him plan fund raising ideas, social activities, youth services, and evangelism. Your assistance will not only give you the opportunity to minister to the young people directly, but indirectly the young people will benefit from the Youth Pastor’s ability to focus on direct ministry to them. Together, you will both work on accomplishing the central mission of the Youth Department – to grow the young people spiritually so that they can be stable Christians or even leaders for tomorrow.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

2. Must be loyal to the Pastor.

3. Must be loyal to the Youth Pastor.

4. Must meet the qualifications for church membership.

5. Must be willing to work in harmony with others.

6. Must carry a burden for youth ministry.

7. Must be faithful in attendance to Youth Services.

8. Must be faithful in attendance to Youth Staff meetings.

9. Must be excited and vibrant about youth ministry within the church and able to motivate the young people.

10. Must have a knowledge of the operations of the Youth Department and ability to work under these operations.

Job Responsibilities
* Shall oversee the Youth Department under the direction of the Pastor and the Youth Pastor.

* Shall assist the Youth Pastor in the following areas:
a.Planning Youth Services on a Quarterly Plan -Planning Social Activities
b.Planning Fund-Raisers -Planning and Organizing Evangelism Efforts
c.Counseling Young People (Only on Appropriate Issues as Outline in the Youth Manual)

* Shall attend biweekly meetings with the Youth Pastor.

* Shall strive to meet goals set for the Youth Department.

* Shall develop a Leadership Training program for Young Leaders.

* Shall fill in for the Youth Pastor’s occasional absence.

* Shall inform the Youth Pastor of any upcoming absences in advance.

* Shall work with the Youth Pastor to organize the annual Youth Retreat.

* Shall motivate young people by good character and conduct.

* Shall teach during the annual “What in the Word Do You Believer’ doctrinal youth classes.

* Shall promote Sheaves for Christ participation by the Youth Department.

* Shall assist the Youth Pastor in transporting the Youth Group to District and Sectional Youth Events, such as Youth Camp, Youth Rallies, Social Events, etc..

* Shall attend ALL youth trips, and be a chaperone, unless extending circumstances warrant your absence from them.

* Shall be in charge of youth publications such as…
a. Monthly Youth Newsletter
b. Monthly Youth Calendars
c. Flyers for upcoming youth events

* Shall assist the Youth Pastor in the Bible Quizzing ministry.

* Shall work for the annual Back to School Jam evangelism outreach.

* Shall assist the Youth Pastor in appointing an empty seat on the Youth Staff.

* Shall also be required to attend College and Career Department outings or events, unless it would conflict with Youth activities.

* Shall consider suggestions and ideas posed from the Youth Staff.

* Shall inform the Pastor and parents of any emergency problems with a young person in a discreet and responsible manner.

NOTE: The Assistant Youth Pastor is not in position to tell either the Pastor or Youth Pastor what he is doing wrong or should be doing. It is his responsibility in assisting the Youth Pastor in achieving the task of the Youth Department and merely offering suggestions or ideas for improvement.
Other Duties

* Monday night is Church Family Night, and is devoted specifically for the church families to spend time together. Therefore, youth activities cannot be planned on this night.

* Shall be a faithful example to the young people by attending all church services and events.

* Shall pray for young people at the altars during altar call after service.

* Shall be an example to young people in evangelism by bringing people to church and working with the Outreach Department of New Life Assembly.

* Shall assist the Youth Pastor in writing an official monthly report to be handed in at the Monthly Church Staff Council.

* Shall be faithful in attending the Monthly Church Staff Council.

* Shall be an example to the young people in devotion by coming at least one half-hour before service for Youth Prayer.

* Shall perform any additional duties as required.

Organization Relationships

The Assistant Youth Pastor is responsible to both the Pastor and the Youth Pastor. He is responsible for assisting the Youth Pastor of New Life Assembly for reaching spiritual growth in the young people and numerical growth in the size of the Youth Department. The Job Description for the Assistant Youth Pastor will be updated every year at the Annual Church Leadership Retreat. Along with the Youth Pastor, the Assistant Youth Pastor will be held accountable to the Pastor by a 90-day review of the Job Description and the performance of the Youth Department at achieving the task. The Assistant Youth Pastor will work with all other departments, but significantly with the Outreach Department. This position is appointed for a one-year term.

Job Responsibilities

a. The social aspect of the youth – in order to unify them as a strong team and body.
b. The soulwinning Involvement of the youth – In order to see young people and others saved.
c. The fund raising goals of the youth – in order to help them gain financial responsibility.
d. The spiritual growth of the youth – in order to see them develop a stable walk with God.

– Shall serve as a catalyst to the entire Youth Program promoting and encouraging its success.
a. Shall keep abreast with all areas of the youth work from the national, district, and sectional level in order to implement needed programs locally.
b. Shall offer suggestions and give advice for the entire scope of the youth work, serving as the pastor’s representative.
c. Shall be an example to the youth by serving as a role model in worship and consecration.

– Shall work with the Sr., & Jr., Bible Quizzing Ministry each year, promoting and encouraging it’s success, You will assist the Bible Quizzing director in coordinating their activities with the church calendar,

– Shall coordinate and oversee the “J-JAMers” (Just Jesus And Me),Jr. Youth Club for boys and girls (ages 6- 1 2) which meets weekly, This will be a future consideration of the Youth Department and may be delegated to another.

– Shall coordinate and oversee the Scouting program for boys and girls which meets weekly. This will be a future consideration of the Youth Department and may be delegated to another.

– Shall attend all sectional youth fellowship meetings (when possible) and encourage youth to do the same.
a. Must oversee all transportation needs ( bus, vans, cars, etc.). If church vehicle is used, shall insure it is cleaned after use,

– Shall insure that the Youth Committee promotes ‘Sheaves for Christ’ and other fund raising events under Pastoral direction.

– Shall strongly encourage youth to attend all church prayer meetings, Including pre-service prayer.

– Shall assist the Youth Committee who shall take complete oversight of the youth at Wednesday youth services. The Youth Committee is to:
a. Arrange for pianist, organist, song leaders, specials, service leaders, speakers, etc. (Speakers must be cleared with the Pastor)
b. See that the church is opened, lights on, air / heat regulated.
c. Insure that church is locked and everything turned off following youth service.
d. Contact youth when absent. This is a must!
e. Make visitors feel welcome and see that they are followed-up on.

– Shall plan to utilize the “Youth Alive” style of youth services which focuses on a well balanced and varied youth program,
a, Month One – Spiritual Emphasis (preaching & prayer).
b. Month Two – Outreach emphasis (prayer before, outreach activity, social time after).
c. Month Three – Activity emphasis (games, social time, sports, parks, etc.).
d. Month Four – Outing Emphasis (youth service or devotion away from church).

– Shall promote and mist our youth in attending youth camps and conventions, coordinating all travel to and from, as well as executing all plans.

– Shall promote and encourage all national, district, and local youth activities, such as:
a. Youth Rallies e. Youth Retreats
b. S. F. C. Promotions f. Youth Conferences
c. Youth Week g. Youth Outreach Crusades
d. Youth Camp h. Annual Youth Trip

– Shall insure that proper adult supervision / chaperons are available for all youth activities, socials, or services.

– Shall serve as Advisor of the Youth Committee and will present their plans to the Pastor at the Monthly Departmental Council for addition to the church calendar. The purpose of this Youth Committee is to do the following:

c. They shall plan and implement outreach programs such as:

2) Campus ministry

4) Tract Distribution (tract attacks/races)
5) Balloon or Kite Testimony
6) Youth Bus/Van Route

d. They shall plan the youth service, giving attention to variety and spirituality, such as:
1) Panel discussions
2) Evangelistic services
3) Plays or skits
4) Outreach services
5) Street meetings
6) Missions night
7) Consecrations services
8) Topical services
9) Outdoor services
10) Singspirations
11) Exchange services
12) Witnessing services

– Shall teach / speak when opportunities present themselves or as needed.

– Shall work diligently to involve all new convert youth In the youth program and activities. Make a special effort to invite them and make them belong.

– Shall coordinate and oversee the publishing of the bimonthly youth newsletter “The Youth R.I.O.T” (Revival In Our Town) sending it to all youth and past youth visitors. This will be a future goal of the Youth Department.

– Shall seek out the youth to befriend and encourage them as needed, referring appropriate cases to the Pastor.
a. It should be understood that all advice given to young ladies shall always be done in the presence of your wife.
b. All situations involving intimate behavior – DO NOT COUNSEL – refer to Pastor immediately.

Other Duties

– Shall endeavor to not schedule any departmental activities on Monday night. Monday will be known as “Family Night” and all church members are encouraged to stay home with their families on this night.

– Shall be an example to the youth in faithfulness by attending all church services and special functions.

– Shall be an example to the youth in soul winning by taking active involvement in the Home Bible Study Ministry, or some other form of outreach ministry.

– Shall be an example to the Youth in spiritual growth by coming at least one-half hour before each service to pray.

– Shall attend all Annual Planning Retreats and Monthly Departmental Planning Councils.

– If unable to attend because of an emergency, shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute (one of the youth council members) attend in your place,

– Shall hand in an official monthly report at the Monthly Staff Council.

– Shall perform additional duties as required.

The Youth Director is responsible directly to the Pastor. Each year, the Pastor and Youth Director will review this Job Description, update and improve to make more applicable to the position. Accountability shall consist of a monthly report of all youth activities and upcoming events. The Director is responsible for all interdepartment staff and youth council / committee personnel. The director shall work closely with all departments, but especially with Outreach. Evaluation of performance of this position shall be performed by the Pastor on an annual basis. The term of this office shall be for one year.

JOB PURPOSE

To administer and motivate the youth department in a manner that will result in outside youth being won to God. Major emphasis will be placed on the following: Bus ministry, Each One Win One ministry, and constant contact with young visitors. This is best accomplished by keeping these ministries before the eyes of the people. Your main task, goal and burden must be to see young people brought in from the world, repented of their sins, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be an active church member, faithful in attendance.
2. Must be willing to sacrifice personal time for the cause of saving young people.
3. Must have a personality that will not grow tired of children.
4. Must be able to lead and motivate other people.
5. Must be dependable and able to complete assigned tasks.
6. Must have desire and be willing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Bus Ministry
1. Shall oversee and supervise all operations of the Bus Ministry.
2. Work well with other saints, delegating as many smaller responsibilities as possible such as: maintenance, door knocking, Saturday visitation, etc.
3. Shall use the Parent reach concept of bus ministry such as in an additional handout.
4. Stay in contact with the pastor as to any problems or accomplishments.
5. Be aware of the laws dealing with driving children.

Each One Win One
1. Promote the concept to the youth group of each person winning one person. Use various techniques such as contests and social gatherings.
2. Lead by example to the best of your ability.
3. Stay in contact with the pastor as to any problems or accomplishments.

Youth Visitor Follow-up
1. Make sure any individual which (1) receives the Holy Ghost, or (2)is refilled with the Holy Ghost after a significant absence, or (3) is baptized and has a visitor follow-up card filled out
that same service. Make sure the card is filled out in a manner that all needed information can be obtained.

2. Shall oversee the first night counseling of all young persons filling out a card.
a. Must be done the same service
b. Counseling must be direct and to the point
c. They should then be given the New Convert’s Booklet and an assigned cassette tape.

3. A photo-copy of all cards should be given to the following people:
a. Pastor
b. Home-bible study director
c. New Convert’s class instructor
d. An assigned care partner
e. Church secretary
4. Shall take roll of all new converts each service and monitor this so you can assign a visit to those who become priority.
5. Shall oversee “Dinner Ministry.”

Other Duties
1. Attend all monthly staff meetings.
2. If unable to attend, notify the pastor as soon as possible.
3. Be an example to the church in life-style and effort in winning souls.
4. Hand in a monthly report to the Monthly Council.
5. Perform additional duties as required to assure the success of your task.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Youth Outreach Director is responsible directly to the pastor. Each year the pastor and the Youth Outreach Director will review the previous years results, accomplishments and failures.
The department will be revised and updated yearly.

Outreach retreat, spring promotional contest, summer evangelism trips, and the fall home coming. In focusing upon these programs various methods of outreach will be used such as door knocking, surveys, home bible studies, and any other programs approved by the Pastor and Youth Director.

Job Qualifications

Winter Outreach Retreat

B. Shall organize fund raisers to subsidize the price of outreach retreat.
C. Shall promote trip within the youth group.
D. Shall organize the retreat. The main focus is to have unsaved friends of the youth group attend. It is to be fun,uplifting,and spiritual. Director will be responsible to hand in an outline of the retreat to the youth director three weeks prior to leaving.

Spring Promotional Contest

The Spring contest shall run for one quarter of three months. It shall work in this manner the youth group shall be divided into teams (number may vary with size of the youth group). Youth Outreach Director and Youth Director shall pick team leaders, they should be young people with a desire to do a work for God. After leaders are selected they shall select their teams in a private meeting with the Youth Outreach Director. The contest goal is to reach 100,000 points. The goal will be obtained by points being awarded for outreach methods.

Some examples for the points:

50 points for survey of knocking doors
100 points for every first time visitor
2500 points for every Into His Marvelous Light Home Bible Study taught
5000 points for every person baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.

When a young person is converted they are on the team of the member that brought them to the Lord. The prize shall be the evangelism trip paid for the winning team by the youth division.

A. Shall be in charge of organizing and overseeing Spring Promotional Contest.

1. Select team leaders with Youth Director.
2. Meet with team leaders to select teams.
3. Motivate team leaders in getting their team to reach their goals.
4. Will let team leaders do the outreach with the team.
5. Will organize the follow up of all contacts.

B. Will give a weekly update of contest at youth service and once a month on a Sunday night Service.

C. Shall meet with team leaders once a week for the following reasons.

1. Weekly reports from team leaders.
2. Brain storm for new ideas.
3. Motivate leaders.
4. Answer any questions.
5. Help teach and train them in outreach.

D. Spring Promotional Contest shall be the major outreach project of the youth. Seeing that after the contest is over the youth shall follow up on the contacts they have made.

Summer Evangelism Trip
Youth shall take a Summer Evangelism Trip in August. The trip shall consist of going to a Home Missions church for a week and helping the Pastor by doing outreach under his direction.

A. Shall be in charge of handing in five suggestions to the Pastor of where to go on the trip.

B. Shall be in charge of contacting and making all necessary arrangements of the trip.

1. Contacting Pastor of visiting church.
2. Arranging food and sleeping accommodations.
3. Arranging transportation.

C. Shall be in charge of getting fund raisers together for the trip.

D. Selecting and filtering out young people if it is necessary.

Fall Home Coming

Home Coming is to be a youth revival with a Saturday as a day of fun, softball, volleyball and a Bonfire.

A. Shall be in charge of making flyers and getting groups together to pass out flyers. As well as contact all people in the follow up files.

B. Shall be in charge of getting Park Facilities with softball field, volleyball net, hot coals for a barbecue, and any other needed equipment.

C. Shall work with pastor and youth director in selecting who will be involved in the service.

3. Special songs
4. Testimonies
5. Speaker (Pastor will select)

Other Duties

** Organize and follow up in all contacts made through out the year. Get young people involved in visitation.
** Shall attend all annual planning retreats and monthly departmental planning councils.
** Shall work with outreach director on using young people with the church outreach once they have reached the age of eighteen or older.
** Shall teach at least ten Bible studies a year personally and be an example to the church.
** Shall hand in a monthly report at monthly council meetings.
** Shall perform additional duties as required.

Organizational Relationships

The youth outreach director is directly responsible to the pastor and youth director. He shall work in harmony with both. He shall attend all youth services and help the youth director in any way possible.

** Shall attend all sectional youth fellowship meetings (when possible) and encourage youth to do the same.
a. Must oversee all transportation needs (bus, vans, cars, etc.). If church vehicle is used, shall insure it is cleaned after use.

** Shall promote ‘Sheaves for Christ’ and other fund raising events under Pastoral direction.

** Shall promote and supervise the youth prayer meeting that meets weekly on Tuesday Evening.
a. Should strongly encourage youth to attend all other church prayer meetings, including pre-service prayer.

** Shall take complete oversight of the youth at Friday youth services:
a. Arrange for pianist, organist, song leaders, specials, service leaders, speakers, etc. (Speakers must be cleared with the Pastor)
b. See that the church is opened, lights on, air / heat regulated.
c. Insure that church is locked and everything turned off following youth service.
d. Contact youth when absent. This is a must!
e. Make visitors feel welcome and see that they are followed-up on.

** Shall plan to utilize the “Youth Alive” style of youth services which focuses on a well balanced and varied youth program.
a. Week One – Spiritual Emphasis (preaching & prayer).
b. Week Two – Outreach emphasis (prayer before, outreach activity, social time after).
c. Week Three – Activity emphasis (games, social time, sports, parks, etc.).
d. Week Four – Outing Emphasis (youth service or devotion away from church). Note: The four types of services are not to be in the same order month after month.

** Shall promote and assist our youth in attending youth camps and conventions, coordinating all travel to and from, as well as executing all plans.

** Shall promote and encourage all national, district, and local youth activities, such as:

c. Youth Week

e. Youth Retreats

These couples shall be appointed on a yearly basis. They, along with the Youth Committee, are to meet monthly to plan the four areas of youth ministry.

** Shall assist the Pastor in appointing a Youth Committee, made up of single youth, to assist you in all aspects of the youth ministry. They will meet with you and the Youth Council monthly
to plan the entire youth program. The following Youth Committee positions shall be appointed on an annual, bi-annual, or quarterly basis:
a. Youth Social Assistant
b. Youth Outreach Assistant
c. Youth Fund Raising Assistant
d. Youth Promotions Assistant (youth newsletter)

Note: It is understood that the individuals on the Youth Council or Youth Committee are not in position to tell either the Youth Director or Pastor what they should or should not do, but to simply give suggestions and carry out assignments and directives in their respective areas.

** Shall serve as Chairman of the above Youth Council/Committee and will present their plans to the Pastor at the Monthly Departmental Council for addition to the church calendar. The purpose of this Youth Council/Committee is to do the following:

a. They shall plan such fund raising projects as:
1) Car or Window Washes

c. They shall plan and implement outreach programs such as:

** Shall coordinate and oversee the publishing of the bi-monthly youth newsletter “The Youth R.I.O.T” (Revival In Our Town) sending it to all youth and past youth visitors.

** Shall seek out the youth to befriend and encourage them as needed, referring appropriate cases to the Pastor.
a. It should be understood that all advice given to young ladies shall always be done in the presence of your wife.
b. All situations involving intimate behavior – DO NOT COUNSEL – refer to Pastor immediately.

Other Duties

** Shall endeavor to not schedule any departmental activities on Monday night. Monday will be known as “Family Night” and all church members are encouraged to stay home with their
families on this night.

** Shall be an example to the youth in faithfulness by attending all church services and special functions.

** Shall be an example to the youth in soul winning by taking active involvement in the Home Bible Study Ministry, or some other form of outreach ministry.

** Shall be an example to the Youth in spiritual growth by coming at least one-half hour before each service to pray.

** If unable to attend because of an emergency, shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute (one of the youth council members) attend in your place.

To administer and motivate the World Missions Department in a manner that will encourage an ever expanding World Missions consciousness and involvement in the church. Your major focus will be upon the monthly Missions Sunday promotion and the annual Faith Promise Week. In doing this, you are promoting the spread of the Gospel world wide, as well as within our city. God blesses a missions giving church!

Job Qualifications

1. Must be filled with the Holy Ghost.
2. Must meet the qualifications for church membership.
3. Must be loyal to the Pastor.
4. Must be willing to work in harmony with others.
5. Must carry a burden for the Missions Ministry.
6. Must be able to lead and motivate others.

Job Responsibilities

** Shall collect and read all incoming foreign and home missionary letters.

** Shall plan a 15 min. Missions Sunday presentation the first Sunday Morning of each month.
a. Read the highlights of that months missionary letters. This should be brief.
b. Assign prayer partners for very special needs (check with Pastor).
c. Give that months Missions financial status report.
– Total number missionaries being sponsored
– Total monthly Church Pledge
– Total months Missions income
– If we reached it…Rejoice!
– If we missed it…Encourage!
d. Have two ushers spread out all missionary letters upon the altars and as a “missions” chorus is being sung, ask folks to come up and take a letter, thereby making that missionary their prayer partner for one month. If more are needed, photocopy extra for passing out. Keep this entire promotion positive in spirit.

** Shall promote Home Missions as much as possible at this monthly time also.

** Shall assist the Public Relations Director in designing a quarterly page for the monthly bulletin emphasizing “World Missions”. Highlight a missionary, country, and souls. Should have pictures and illustrations and include the quarters missions financial status.

** Shall assist the Pastor in planning an annual World Missions Convention Week and Faith Promise Service to renew our missions awareness and enlarge our missions support.

** Shall assist the Pastor in selecting individuals to write all missionaries that we support each quarter.
a. A sample letter is to be provided to all letter writers. This letter is to be written by you and approved by the Pastor.
b. Letter is to encourage and uplift the missionaries. Shall also contain some church and district news.
c. Always let the missionary know that a personal reply is not necessary to this letter.
d. For an excellent set of guidelines in this area, write Foreign Missions Division, UPCI.

** Shall keep the missions bulletin board neat and up to date. Missions Board design and theme must be changed each quarter.

** Shall promote and encourage the annual “Christmas For Christ” offering in December.

** Shall promote and encourage giving to the following ministries:
a. Tupelo Children’s Mansion
b. Spirit Of Freedom
c. Lighthouse Boy’s Ranch

** Shall assist in other missions duties as required.
